Okay, so the team behind the first movie pretty much came back for this one! David Frankel directed again, and Aline Brosh McKenna wrote the script. Plus, a lot of the same people worked on it behind the scenes – like the production designer, the cinematographer, and Molly Rogers, who did the costumes. In the sequel, Miranda remains the powerful editor-in-chief of Runway magazine, with Nigel still by her side as creative director. However, both Andy and Emily have experienced significant changes. Andy has become a successful, award-winning journalist, but a sudden life event brings her back to Runway – this time as a features editor. Meanwhile, Emily has moved on completely, now working as the chief communications officer at Dior.

Runway remains under the ownership of Elias-Clarke, and Tibor Feldman is back as their chairman, Irv Ravitz. Meanwhile, Andy continues to rely on her friend Lily for support, with Tracie Thoms returning to play the role she originated in the first film.

Okay, so Emily and Andy are gone, and Miranda’s got new assistants. Honestly, I’m guessing she’s gone through a ton over the last 20 years! This time around, Simone Ashley is playing Amari, her main assistant, and Caleb Hearon is Charlie, who’s the second one. It’s gonna be interesting to see how these two handle her!

Andy now has her own assistant, Helen J Shen, who plays the character Jin Chao. This casting choice has caused some discussion before the official release.

It’s weird, because since the first movie came out, fans seem to really dislike his character, but I still thought a little cameo would’ve been cool.

Nate isn’t in The Devil Wears Prada 2, but director David Frankel considered a quick appearance for him. He told EW that the idea came up too late in the filming process to actually include it.

Ultimately, we’re left with the funny Starbucks commercial featuring Grenier as a way to acknowledge he won’t be in the next movie.
