David Gandy and Leomie Anderson pour beers in front of the ‘Il Fresco di Peroni’… and you can get a free pint in Covent Garden this Bank Holiday

Even though nothing is truly free, people visiting Covent Garden in London this weekend have a chance to get a complimentary beer.

Peroni, the popular Italian beer, is offering free, chilled half-pints of lager served from a tap cleverly hidden inside a detailed, three-dimensional recreation of an Italian Renaissance painting.

Models David Gandy and Leomie Anderson revealed a new fresco painting behind the bar earlier this week.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m always excited when brands create truly immersive experiences, and Peroni’s new ‘Il Fresco’ is doing just that! Imagine stepping into a Renaissance masterpiece – that’s what they’ve created. It’s designed to look like a painting by artists like Raphael or Botticelli, but it’s actually a fully functioning bar where you can grab a drink and, of course, take some amazing photos that look like you’re part of the artwork itself. It’s a brilliant blend of art, illusion, and a fun social space.

It’s also free, which means it is likely to be very busy, particularly on a Bank Holiday weekend.

Chef James Gandy described Aperitivo as a lovely tradition for pausing and enjoying good drinks, food, and conversation. He was delighted to collaborate with Peroni Nastro Azzurro on this special event, praising their ability to elevate the simple act of pouring a beer into something truly artistic, and was excited to be among the first to try it.

Anderson highlighted Peroni Nastro Azzurro’s unique style, saying no other beer offers such an immersive Italian experience. He described it as a crisp, refreshing beer that feels like stepping into a beautiful work of art, and recommended visiting Il Fresco di Peroni in Covent Garden for a particularly special first taste.

Anja Gottschalk, the Brand Director for Peroni, said they are excited to bring this unique experience to people in and visiting Covent Garden, London.

Il Fresco di Peroni showcases classic Italian style, offering Londoners a unique and beautiful place to enjoy a drink – inspired by the artistry of Roman frescoes.

The installation will be open to over 18s from noon to 8pm until Saturday evening.
