While season three could adapt a story from earlier in the manga, it would be a missed opportunity not to connect it to the overarching villain, Imu. Imu’s history is closely tied to Alabasta, and this season offers the perfect chance to reveal more about that connection.

There’s One Way Imu Can Appear In One Piece Season 3

Considering Imu was just introduced in the manga and anime One Piece, it’s surprisingly possible they could appear in the live-action Netflix series. With season three confirmed to adapt the Alabasta arc, and Vivi already introduced in season two, the Straw Hat crew is heading to Alabasta to deal with trouble there. This creates a natural opportunity for Imu to make a cameo appearance.

Imu has a long-standing connection to the kingdom of Alabasta, dating back to the mysterious Void Century. Imu was involved in the creation of the World Government and shared a close relationship with Nefertari Lili, an ancestor of Vivi. However, their bond fractured when Lili secretly spread ancient, forbidden knowledge through Poneglyphs. This act created a divide between them, and Lili’s lineage ultimately became the ruling family of Alabasta. King Cobra and Vivi are direct descendants of Lili, and this family history is crucial for the Netflix adaptation to explore.

The Alabasta arc centers around the country itself and how its royal family handles a crisis. Once Luffy meets the king, it would be a natural opportunity to explore the history of the Nefertari family in One Piece season three. This backstory could show glimpses of Lili as Cobra explains his nation’s origins, and even a quick appearance of Imu, given their shared history.

Why One Piece Season 3 SHOULD Include Imu This Early

Imu’s history is closely tied to the kingdom of Alabasta. Although he’s only recently appeared in the One Piece manga, his influence is vast. The manga has been gradually revealing Imu’s importance over many years, and fans have accepted this slow pace. However, the live-action One Piece on Netflix needs to move a bit faster.
