Sony is moving closer to a worldwide launch of its baseball game for mobile devices. Pre-registration for MLB The Show Mobile is now available on both Android and iOS.

Features like the Risk It mechanic and Momentum system add to the experience

Development of the mobile version started as early as 2022, with job postings around the time of MLB The Show 22 suggesting a mobile port was in the works. This aligned with Sony’s broader strategy to expand into mobile gaming, and their plans to release more of their popular game franchises on phones as free-to-play titles.

As a big fan, I was so excited when MLB The Show Mobile first became available in the Philippines in December 2025 – it was like a test run, or a ‘soft launch,’ for both phones and tablets! Now, because so many people have already signed up to play, that test is turning into a full official launch, which is awesome!

The game plays much like previous installments in the series, but it’s been adapted for mobile devices. You’ll have complete control over all aspects of the game – batting, pitching, fielding, and running the bases – and can even manage runners in real time with the “Risk It?” feature.

The game features a ‘Momentum’ system, adding extra strategic depth. It also lets you build a team using cards – there are over 900 to choose from, featuring both today’s stars and legendary players, so you can create a roster that fits your play style.

The game features several different ways to play. Seasons mode offers shorter matches where you advance through different maps, and the player-versus-player (PvP) mode focuses on fast-paced, best-of-three matches – a good fit for playing on the go.

You can sign up now through the Google Play Store or App Store to be notified when it’s available worldwide. While there’s no official release date confirmed yet, the App Store currently suggests a launch around May 26, 2026.
