Olivia Rodrigo finally confirms her split from Louis Partridge and reflects ‘things happen the way they’re supposed to happen’ as she poses for stunning Cosmopolitan shoot

Olivia Rodrigo has finally confirmed her split from Louis Partridge in a candid new interview.

In December, news broke that the 23-year-old singer and the 22-year-old British actor had ended their relationship after being together for over two years.

Her new album, ‘you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love’, is coming out soon, and fans are eager to see if any of the songs reveal details about her relationship or split.

Olivia recently told Cosmopolitan she’s focusing on building friendships and has started dating again after a period of being single.

For the magazine’s Beauty Issue, the actress was interviewed by her friend Madison Hu, who asked her about her current romantic life.

Honestly, I think Olivia gets it. She says what matters most to her isn’t even romance, but the deep connection she has with her best friend โ€“ that real, solid friendship and the support of her community. She sees dating as fun, sure, but definitely not the most important thing. It’s all about that foundational love first, and everything else just builds on top of that, which I totally relate to!

She shared a recent realization about love: it requires patience and trusting that things will unfold as they should, without unnecessary stress or anxiety.

The artist shared that the new album will largely explore themes of sadness, anger, and heartbreak, as that’s what most of the songs are about.

Olivia and Louis first sparked dating rumors when they were seen together in London, Louis’s hometown, in October 2023.

Oh my god, can you believe it? Apparently, back in December, she was a total mess at Lily Allen’s Christmas party! I heard she was crying โ€“ crying โ€“ at Stringfellows, that strip club in London, all because of the breakup. It just breaks my heart to think about her being so upset, even at something like that. I can’t even imagine how much pain she must have been in!

As a lifestyle expert, I’m always fascinated by where creatives find their spark, and I recently shared with Vogue that London has been a huge source of inspiration for my latest work. The city just has this energy that really gets the ideas flowing!

I’ve really immersed myself in London while creating this album. Many of the songs capture the feeling of the city and are inspired by my personal experiences here.

I remember reading that Olivia tried out Raya, that exclusive dating app, around the time her album Sour came out in 2021, before she started dating Louis. It was interesting to learn a little bit about her life before things really took off!

However she was only on it for a month after a bad date prompted her to swiftly delete her profile.ย

She said: ‘I was like, ‘Wow, never again. It was just so bad’.ย

I was really hoping to spot a famous actor, but there wasn’t anyone interesting there at all. I don’t recognize a single person โ€“ it’s always just people with unusual job titles, like ‘creative director,’ which feels like they don’t really have a job.

During the interview, Olivia also shared her favorite places in the city, mentioning she had her first kisses at Chiltern Firehouse.

Olivia will have a busy Saturday night! She’s both hosting and performing as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live this weekend.

The singer will join Sabrina Carpenter and Harry Styles, who both previously hosted and performed on Season 51 of the show.

I was so impressed when Sabrina hosted and performed as the musical guest all on the same night โ€“ October 18th, 2025! Then, Harry did the exact same thing, and he absolutely nailed it on March 14th, 2026. It’s a really rare feat, and they both did it flawlessly.

Olivia first appeared on Saturday Night Live in a sketch called ‘Tiny A Bag’ in December 2023. She was only 18 years old when she performed live on the show for the very first time.

Before returning as a musical guest in 2023, Olivia Rodrigo confessed to being ‘terrified’ during an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show.

Performing on SNL was only the second time Iโ€™d ever been on stage, and I was just 18. It was an amazing experience and a huge honour, but honestly, I was really scared.

It was incredibly late, the show was happening right then, and I just recall being really scared. I was in my dressing room thinking, ‘I’m not sure I’ve earned this, and this is overwhelming.’
