The Team of the Season (TOTS) event is now live in EA Sports FC Mobile, starting April 23, 2026! This year’s event includes some exciting new features. Shards are back, but they’re part of a brand new system called Triple Formula, which is a first for this type of event.
Plus, the maximum player rating has increased from 117 to 120, adding a new, more difficult-to-get group of top-tier cards that will likely hold their value for a long time. This means progressing through the game feels different than it has in past events. To help you succeed in Team of the Season (TOTS) in FC Mobile 26, this guide will explain how all these changes work together.
FC Mobile 26 Team of the Season Explained
The Triple Formula and Tag System
This event centers around a new system called the Triple Formula. Instead of using regular money to get rewards, you’ll collect Tags, which let you choose the specific types of items you want.
The game uses three kinds of filters, called Tags. League Tags let you pick a specific league – for example, the Premier League. OVR Tags let you set a minimum player rating, like 114 or higher. When you use both of these Tags together, the game shows you only the rewards that fit both your chosen league and minimum rating.
Once you’ve claimed five players, a new ‘Custom Tag’ slot becomes available. This gives you more control, allowing you to focus on specific player types, such as attackers, midfielders, defenders, or special ‘Moments’ players.
A major benefit of this system is that claiming a player doesn’t cost anything extra once you’ve collected the necessary tags. It all comes down to how well you gather and utilize those tags.
Every player you claim helps you progress along a special path. Once you’ve claimed 40 players, you’ll unlock a guaranteed 117 OVR UTOTS player when the relevant chapter is released.
Star Signings and the Return of Shards
Shards have returned for Team of the Season (TOTS), and they’re key to getting the players you want most. The Star Signings area works like a direct shop where you can use collected shards to claim specific players, rather than hoping for them in packs.
During the event, you can collect Star Shards in a few different ways. Completing Daily Tasks will now always reward you with 100 shards. Plus, you can turn in TOTS players you don’t need for shards, making each pack you open even more valuable.
Plus, you can trade older Phase 2 Tokens for shards – each token gets you 15 shards. You can also earn shards by completing event quests over time. Here’s how the conversion rates work starting with TOTS:
| OVR (TOTS onwards) | Number of Shards |
|---|---|
| 110–114 | 150 |
| 115 | 300 |
| 116 | 600 |
| 117 | 1500 |
| 118 | 3500 |
| 119 | 5000 |
| 120 | 10000 |
TOTS Draft and 120 OVR players
The Draft system has been updated to make earning top rewards easier. It used to take around 100 drafts to get the best prizes, but now you only need about 70. Plus, the addition of players with 120 Overall ratings changes the strategy for playing the event.
These cards are much harder to find, particularly when opening packs in Draft. While you might occasionally get lucky in Draft, the best way to collect these top-tier players is by using the Star Signings system and saving up shards over time.
Event Progression, Star Pass, and Additional Rewards
During the Team of the Season (TOTS) event, you’ll focus on two key parts of the game. First, League Chapters let you play matches and skill games based on different leagues, rewarding you with tokens and tags. Second, you can earn up to three tags each day by playing Division Rivals matches.
The Team of the Season (TOTS) Star Pass rewards players with a powerful 118 OVR Eric Cantona, who comes fully upgraded with excellent stats and five-star skill moves. Plus, the new League Exchange lets you trade 40,000 league points for a 117 OVR Roy Keane. Even if Keane doesn’t fit your current team, he’s still valuable because you can trade him for approximately 2,250 Star Shards.
