House of The Dragon star Sir Simon Russell Beale, 65, reveals he has been diagnosed with colon cancer – leaving him ‘heartbroken’ to drop out of the London run of Titus Andronicus

House of The Dragon star Sir Simon Russell Beale has been diagnosed with colon cancer.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following the career of this incredibly talented 65-year-old actor for years! You’ll probably recognize him from some fantastic roles – he really shone in films like ‘My Week with Marilyn,’ ‘Mary Queen of Scots,’ and the darkly comedic ‘The Death of Stalin.’ More recently, he’s captivated audiences as Ser Simon Strong in the ‘Game of Thrones’ spin-off, ‘House of the Dragon,’ and honestly, he’s just consistently brilliant.

I was absolutely devastated when I heard! He’d quietly left that Titus Andronicus production back in September – the one at the Hampstead Theatre – and everyone just assumed it was a creative decision. Turns out, he’d been battling something serious for eight months before anyone knew! He kept it completely under wraps, poor thing. It just breaks my heart to think about him going through all that in private. I wish he’d let someone help him sooner.

Simon recently revealed he was hospitalized and diagnosed with cancer shortly after finishing work on House of the Dragon.

This week, at an event in London’s The Delaunay restaurant, Simon revealed that he was diagnosed with colon cancer after performing in Stratford and appearing in House of the Dragon. He explained he had to be hospitalized, where doctors discovered the illness.

According to The Times, Simon confessed that dealing with his health issues has been frustrating, and he’s been disappointed to have to step away from work.

He admitted the past eight months have been difficult and frustrating. He found it particularly hard to step back from commitments, something he hadn’t experienced before.

The actor confessed he was heartbroken to drop out of the London run of Titus Andronicus last year.

He’s eager to return to work and has committed to narrating a puppet show adaptation of Shakespeare’s Venus and Adonis, which will be performed across the UK this summer.

He explained that leaving the show Titus was incredibly difficult because he enjoyed it so much, but his cancer diagnosis was the reason he also couldn’t continue with the production at Hampstead Theatre.

I’ve been hesitant, wondering if I should try again, but I’ve made up my mind. I’m starting over next week.

Just two weeks before the Hampstead Theatre’s opening night, Simon left the production of Titus Andronicus and was replaced by John Hodgkinson.

The Royal Shakespeare Company announced that Simon Russell Beale was leaving the production of Titus Andronicus due to illness. Director Max Webster expressed the company’s regret over his departure.

‘We all want to send him our very best wishes for a speedy recovery.’

Okay, I’m officially losing it! They finally announced the release date for House of the Dragon season three this week, and not only that, but they dropped this incredible, fast-paced teaser trailer! I’ve already watched it like twenty times, and I’m counting down the seconds!

A prequel to HBO smash-hit Game Of Thrones, the fantasy series first hit screens back in 2022.

I’m so excited! House of the Dragon is coming back for an eight-episode third season, and thankfully, we won’t have to wait too long to see it.

The show begins streaming on HBO Max June 22nd, and new episodes will be released every week, with the season ending on August 10th.

The main actors—Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Steve Toussaint, Rhys Ifans, and Fabien Frankel—will all return for the third season.

The cast also includes Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall, Matthew Needham, and James Norton.

The cast also includes Tom Bennett, Kieran Bew, Kurt Egyiawan, Freddie Fox, Clinton Liberty, Gayle Rankin, Abubakar Salim, Tom Cullen, Tommy Flanagan, Dan Fogler, Joplin Sibtain, and Barry Sloane.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following the buzz, and let me tell you, the trailer for season three is intense. Fans are really reacting to the shocking scenes of battle – it shows soldiers being brutally injured and even killed, and it’s definitely grabbing everyone’s attention!
