Sheridan Smith reveals she had a secret fling with hunky stuntman Alex Anlos while filming The Castaways in Greece and says ‘it’s so romantic’

Sheridan Smith has admitted to a brief romantic relationship with stuntman Alex Anlos while they were working on the set of The Castaways.

The 44-year-old British actress revealed she had a relationship with Alex following her breakup with her fiancé, Jamie Horn, in 2021.

Sheridan was filming a drama for Paramount+ in Greece in 2023. She played Erin, a woman who travels to Fiji to find out what happened to her missing sister, Lori.

Sheridan Smith recently told Alan Carr on his podcast, Life’s a Beach, about a romantic holiday romance she had.

She revealed she once had a holiday romance while filming in Greece. It was with a stuntman who, she jokingly said, taught her how to swim – and spent a lot of time holding her in the water.

Then, something exciting happened – we started a romance! It was really passionate and everyone was showing off their bodies – it was a very hot and exclusive event.

While we were filming in Greece, I snapped a cute behind-the-scenes photo with Alex and shared it on Instagram. It was a fun moment, and I loved being able to share a little peek with everyone!

She shared that she was spending time with a stunt performer in Greece after practice, and that he helped her pull off some impressive moves.

Sheridan posted another picture of them together, writing about how much they enjoy filming in Greece. They also shared a funny story, revealing they didn’t know how to swim until meeting their close friend and stunt double!

The Cilla star split from fiancé Jamie in 2021 after three years together.

They first connected on the dating app Tinder and quickly moved in together to a £1.5 million house in Essex. They became engaged in 2018.

Before splitting their welcomed their son Billy in May 2020.

Viewers are quickly getting hooked on the new, intense show, The Cage, and are praising Sheridan’s performance as ‘superb’ and the series itself as ‘astonishing and deeply moving’.

The new five-episode crime drama premiered on BBC One on April 26th and can also be streamed on iPlayer.

I’m completely hooked on this new show! It’s about Leanne and Matty, and it turns out they’re both planning to rob the same casino. Talk about trouble! It’s quickly become a really intense game of cat and mouse, with gangsters and the police closing in, but the biggest complication? They’re starting to get in each other’s way!

The show stars actress Sheridan as Leanne and Michael Socha as Matty.

Barry Sloane, Geraldine James, Sue Jenkins, Abby Mavers, Louis Emerick, and Ian Puleston-Davies are also part of the cast.

Even though the show just came out on Sunday, critics have already had a chance to watch it and share their opinions.

As a lifestyle and entertainment enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that Sheridan Smith is receiving rave reviews for her latest role! The Telegraph’s Anita Singh calls her performance ‘superb’ in what’s being described as a truly gripping sequel to ‘The Responder’. It sounds like a must-watch!

She notes that Smith portrays Leanne with genuine warmth. Leanne is a single mother dealing with both her grandmother’s dementia and the threat of losing her home.

Socha, a talented actor who should be more well-known, plays Matty, a sympathetic character struggling with a serious gambling problem.

His raised eyebrows constantly show how hopeless he feels. The show begins with the song “This is the Day,” which has a powerful score, singing about a life-changing moment when everything will work out. But the song’s promise is quickly broken – things don’t improve, and they never will.

Matty, the casino manager, and Leanne, a cashier, both realize the other is stealing small amounts of money. Instead of turning each other in, they decide to work together.

This is a familiar tale of inexperienced people taking on more than they can handle and becoming vulnerable to dangerous criminals.

Okay, so Lucy Mangan from The Guardian totally gets it. She called the new show absolutely astonishing – like, seriously, she said it’s a deeply moving thriller that just gets what’s going on in the world right now. I knew it was amazing, but to have a critic like her say that? It just confirms everything! I’m already planning my rewatch.

Her new work, ‘The Cage,’ complements ‘The Responder’ by focusing on the individuals Martin Freeman’s character dismissed as insignificant—those living difficult lives—rather than the people in positions of authority trying to control them. It offers a sympathetic portrayal of those often overlooked.

‘A state-of-the-other-nation piece, perhaps.’

However, Carol Midgley from The Times wasn’t impressed with the basic idea behind the new BBC1 series, The Cage.

I really dislike casinos, whether I’m actually in one or watching them on TV. The bright lights, over-the-top decor, and generally cold atmosphere all seem designed to take your money, and they’re usually full of people I don’t connect with.

As a huge fan of ‘The Responder’, I honestly struggled to believe any show set in a world so different from my own could ever capture that same brutally honest, gritty feeling. It’s what made it so special to me – that raw, real quality felt completely unique.

While ‘The Cage’ takes place in a casino, it’s not actually about gambling. It’s a story about what people will do when they’re desperate and facing financial hardship, often through no fault of their own.

‘It shows how, when you are in a certain kind of trap, the world is rigged against you.’
