Martine McCutcheon takes a swipe at her ex Jack McManus in cryptic posts as she vows to ‘keep the faith and look forward’ after he ended their 18-year marriage
As a dedicated follower, I can empathize deeply with Martine McCutcheon’s journey through her personal and professional life, having experienced the complexities and challenges that come with maintaining one’s identity amidst societal expectations and relationships.
Martine McCutcheon has made some pointed comments about her former husband Jack McManus on Instagram, following the dissolution of their 18-year marriage earlier this year. These posts seem to be veiled messages, suggesting a not-so-friendly parting.
48-year-old actress from EastEnders posted a collection of inspiring sayings on her Stories, promising to “maintain my faith and move optimistically” following her divorce.
In one pointed post, Martine re-shared a quote which read: ‘Sometimes, healing means telling people to f**k off,’ with the caption: ‘Absobloodylutely!’
Instead, she proceeded to recite a poem that conveyed this message: “It seemed as if you were disintegrating, but unbeknownst to you, you were mending yourself.
Next to it, she penned down: “For those who might find this helpful, hold onto hope. Move ahead – not backwards… and grin… you certainly will be alright… Perhaps even more than alright.
More recently, Martine shared that she had lost her identity during her relationship, and she discussed her journey towards learning to appreciate herself once more.
She explained that she was trying to remind herself that she was enough after a difficult year.
The actress from Love Actually shared that she once struggled under the weight of others’ expectations, but now finds great joy in asserting her boundaries and being true to herself.
On the Showercast podcast, Martine shared that she realized she had been sufficient and lovable all along, without needing to fulfill all the roles or qualities she believed were necessary.
Everyone seems to believe their perception of you is the correct one, a phenomenon not exclusive to celebrities or those in the public spotlight, but also prevalent within families.
The star elaborated that she had been shaped by others’ assumptions about her, and she was once labeled as challenging.
She mentioned that people might perceive you as the challenging one, the outcast, the shining star, or the one who holds everything in balance within the family.
I’d remind both you and anyone I care about that you are far beyond the preconceived notions or easy categorizations others may have for you.
‘Perhaps they cherish a specific aspect or impression of you most, but remember, you are not confined to just that. You’re intricate, puzzling, and multifaceted. It’s crucial to embrace every part of yourself without reservation.’
Martine’s remarks surfaced following her disclosure that her husband, Jack, had parted ways with her after spending 18 years as a couple – just a few days after she penned an emotional birthday homage to him in August.
Discussing her struggles in the wake of the split, Martine admitted anxiety made her a ‘recluse’.
She recalled she was feeling as if she was ‘losing her mind’ as she was overcome by ‘huge fear’ while dealing with perimenopause symptoms.
In the interview on BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour, Martine shared that she chose not to pick up her phone.
I preferred staying indoors rather than answering the door, as stepping outside would inexplicably trigger a sudden sense of overwhelming fear within me. This fear would become so intense that it would cause me to feel as if I needed to stop wherever I was driving because I found it difficult to breathe properly.
I truly believed I was on the verge of mental breakdown. It wasn’t clear to me whether this was actually happening or if it was a symptom related to perimenopause.
She mentioned, “‘It often seemed to appear unexpectedly, and when I discussed it with my expert, she acknowledged that this is a regrettably common occurrence among numerous women.’
The couple married in 2012 in Italy’s picturesque Lake Como, five years after they started dating.
Elsewhere in the podcast Martine revealed she was ‘told I would never be able to have children’ as she opened up about becoming a mother to her son Rafferty.
Martine expressed that holding Rafferty for the first time was the pinnacle, or highest point, of anything she had achieved in her professional life or personal experiences prior to that instance.
The actress shared that she had always believed becoming a mother was something she was destined for, and upon seeing her newborn for the first time, she experienced a kind of love unlike any other.
On the wellness podcast, Martine shared: “Nothing compared to the joy I felt when I held my son for the first time. I’d been told I wouldn’t be able to have kids, and becoming a mom was something I always felt defined who I am.
