The Paramount+ show will end after its next season, which isn’t expected to premiere until next year. However, a first glimpse of the final season has just been released.
I’m really excited to hear that Ruaridh Aldington is joining the cast of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy for Season 2 as a series regular! Karim Diané actually let us know during Comic-Con, which was awesome. Apparently, Aldington will be playing Keats – a young alien the cadets meet on a mission who has a really interesting secret. They end up bringing him back to the Academy, but it turns out he’s in trouble with someone and his life is at risk. I got a first glimpse of Keats, and he looks fantastic!
Ruaridh Aldington Joins the Season 2 Cast as Keats
As a film buff, I’ve been following actor Aldington for a while now. I first noticed him in films like Drained and Dirty Boy, and he was great in the miniseries Andes Plane Crash. I’m really excited to see him in Cary Joji Fukunaga’s new thriller, Blood on Snow – the cast is incredible, with Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Eva Green all involved. It’s shaping up to be a must-see!
The upcoming season of Starfleet Academy will feature returning cast members Sandro Rosta as Caleb Mir, Karim Diané as Jay-Den Kraag, Kerrice Brooks as SAM, George Hawkins as Darem Reymi, and Bella Shepard as Genesis Lythe. Holly Hunter joins the cast as Nahla Ake, the Chancellor of Starfleet Academy. Also starring are Zoë Steiner as Tarima Sadal, Oded Fehr as Charles Vance, Mary Wiseman as Sylvia Tilly, and Gina Yashere as Lura Thok.
Star Trek: Starfleet Academy is set in the 32nd century and follows the first new group of Starfleet cadets in over a century as they train to become officers. Although the show was renewed for a second season before its January premiere on Paramount+, it received mixed reviews and didn’t attract a large audience. Despite initial plans for at least one more season, Paramount+ has now announced that the series will conclude after Season 2.
Starfleet Academy Will End With Season 2
As a lifelong Trek fan, I was really excited to hear Paramount+ and CBS Studios talk about Star Trek: Starfleet Academy back in March. They said they were incredibly proud of how ambitious, passionate, and creative the show was. From what they shared, it seemed like the series was all about introducing us to a fresh group of characters, bringing back some favorites, and really pushing the boundaries of the Star Trek universe in a way that felt new and exciting. It sounded like a project they truly believed in.
We want to thank Alex Kurtzman, Noga Landau, Gaia Violo, and everyone involved in making the show. They truly honored Gene Roddenberry’s original ideas with their creative storytelling. We’re excited to share what’s coming next and continue celebrating the incredible work of the cast and crew.
I just finished watching the first season of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy on Paramount+, and it’s definitely got potential. The good news for fans is that we won’t have to wait too long for more – Season 2 is currently slated to arrive in 2027.
