Inside how Dave Bautista lost over 60lbs to transformation from WWE legend to svelte movie star

As a lifestyle expert, I find Dave Bautista’s transformation truly inspiring. His journey from a WWE legend to a leaner, sleeker, and more versatile actor is nothing short of remarkable. What strikes me most is his determination and adaptability – he didn’t just diet, but took up jiu-jitsu to achieve his goals.

Dave Bautista is a WWE legend known for his brawny, sculpted muscles. Or at least he was.

Currently, the actor who played Glass Onion’s role at 55 years old is showcasing a slimmer and streamlined appearance following a weight loss of over 60 pounds for his new film, The Killer’s Game, where he portrays an assassin.

He’s shed such a significant amount of weight that he appears almost unrecognizable compared to his muscular wrestling prime, or his role as Drax the Destroyer in Guardians of the Galaxy.

Dave, having just posted a nostalgic image of his teenage days, called it quits with his wrestling profession back in 2019. Since then, he’s opted to concentrate on his acting career and shedding excess weight to prevent being stereotyped as characters like Drax the Destroyer.

He adjusted his diet but found that wasn’t working well so he took up jiu-jitsu.

‘It’s the way I lose weight,’ Bautista explained on Live with Kelly and Mark earlier this summer.

He mentioned that he found it tough to shed pounds, so he invited his friend Jason Manly, who is also a trainer, to Budapest when he was shooting Dune. That’s what he shared.

He also mentioned that the pair spent hours merely wrestling, and as a result, he decided to continue losing weight in order to eventually earn his brown belt.

Bautista openly acknowledged that his cardio exercises had their toll. “I’ve been focusing on losing weight, which means I’ve given up quite a bit of muscle mass,” he shared with Kelly Ripa. “However, I’m content with the change because I simply feel more at ease.

Nevertheless, the actor from Wrecking Crew, in spite of his remarkable metamorphosis, admitted that, similar to many others, a stubborn area on his physique refused to shed excess pounds.

As a lifestyle expert speaking from personal experience, I found there were specific areas where, despite my efforts to shed pounds, the excess weight seemed stubbornly persistent.

In referencing various parts of my physique, I can’t help but admit that I had been carrying an unwanted excess of body fat – from my midsection to my chest, and even noticeably in my facial features.

Previously, I used to discard it effortlessly. Nowadays, I find it hard to eliminate it, Bautista stated. In response, Mark Consuelos jokingly suggested, “Maybe you should consider a new tattoo instead.

During a chat with YouTube personality Chris Van Vliet, Bautista openly shared the authentic facts regarding his weight changes throughout the years.

In the past, I weighed a maximum of 370 pounds. At the start of my wrestling character, Deacon, I was roughly 325 pounds, as he himself stated.

‘Throughout most of my wrestling career I was about 290lbs. Now I’m about 240lbs.

He mentioned that around a year and half back, he played a part in ‘Knock at the Cabin’, and during that time, he weighed approximately 315 pounds.

He mentioned that he’s currently at his leanest point, resembling his weight from when he was 19 years of age.

Regarding his food choices, the former wrestler who transitioned into acting primarily follows a vegetarian diet, but he also includes eggs and fish as sources of protein.

Not only does this diet aid in helping him lose and control his weight, but it also appears to alleviate his allergy and asthma issues.

‘Before I started this diet I suffered from asthma and allergies, and it was very difficult for me to lose weight,” he told Men’s Health last year.

He added that he used to pack the calories on during his wrestling career until he found out he was allergic to dairy.

‘By changing it I lost weight more easily and I have allergies and asthma less frequently.’

As far as the WWE is concerned, Bautista states unequivocally that he has no intention of going back, since he was among the few wrestlers who chose to depart from the sport under his own volition.

He stated: “I plan to reappear on the show, but I won’t wrestle anymore,” he mentioned, implying that the era of earning a living by damaging his body is now over.
