Travis Scott cleared of both charges stemming from June arrest in Miami
As a seasoned critic with a penchant for hip-hop and a keen eye for legal nuances, I must say that the latest developments in the Travis Scott saga are as intriguing as they are predictable. Having covered countless cases involving celebrities and their run-ins with the law, it’s evident that the Miami Beach Marina incident was just another chapter in the life of a star who thrives on pushing boundaries.
In simpler terms, the second accusation made against rapper Travis Scott following his arrest in Miami in June has been dismissed. Consequently, he is now free from any upcoming trials related to that specific event.
33-year-old rapper Travis Scott, who goes by “Sicko Mode,” was officially named Jacques Bermon Webster, was taken into custody in Miami for charges including trespassing and disorderly conduct due to intoxication at the Miami Beach Marina. On Friday, TMZ revealed that the trespassing charge against him would be dismissed.
On Friday, neither Scott’s nor the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s representatives provided an immediate response to The Times’ request for comment.
This past month saw a significant turn of events in my perspective; the state chose to dismiss the disorderly intoxication accusation against Scott. Originally, the trespassing case was set for trial on September 10th.
According to Bradford Cohen’s statement to TMZ, the motion to dismiss was debated, and the state came to understand that there was no feasible way to uphold the accusation. As a result, they elected to withdraw the entire case. Although it was not a severe charge, one that arguably should not have been raised in the first place, we are content with the outcome.
On Friday, the lawyer posted this statement in the caption: “Ha! I don’t need to boast about a few misdemeanors being dropped, but…the state wouldn’t let go, we presented and won an appeal to have it dismissed. In fact, they surrendered and dismissed it just before the court was about to do so anyway.”
If the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office had examined the evidence objectively from the start, this entire situation could have been prevented. Interestingly, they even posted “no trespassing” signs afterwards, but luckily we captured photographs shortly after the arrest which clearly show no such signs were present. – Cohen.
During the course of the Miami case, the rapper known as “Highest in the Room,” who is a parent to two children with reality television personality Kylie Jenner, was apprehended in Paris earlier this month due to allegations of a scuffle at the George V hotel.
During a dispute, the hotel’s security officer stepped in between himself and his bodyguard. According to the authorities’ initial report, this incident led to a response from the police.
A ten-time Grammy nominee rap artist, famous for his “Astroworld” album and the recent “Utopia,” spent several days in Paris for the Olympics. During this time, he was reportedly pursued and hassled by paparazzi, as per a source close to the situation who couldn’t discuss the matter publicly. The artist was surrounded at his hotel on the day of his arrest, and no assistance was provided, which allegedly triggered the altercation, according to the source.
One day after Scott’s arrest, the Paris prosecutor’s office informed the Associated Press that the charges against him had been dropped and the detention order was lifted, as the incident was deemed minor.
