The Super Mario Galaxy Movie gets close to $750 million at global box office
The Super Mario Bros. Movie is continuing to perform very well in theaters worldwide. As of recent reports from Box Office Mojo, the animated film has grossed $747.5 million globally. Of that amount, $355 million came from tickets sold in the United States, and around $392 million came from international sales.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie made around $35 million in its third weekend in theaters across the country, playing in 4,170 locations. While this is down from the previous weekend, it’s still enough to keep the movie as the top earner domestically. It originally premiered on April 1st, bringing in a huge $131.7 million from 4,252 theaters.
This film is currently the highest-grossing movie worldwide for 2026, significantly outpacing its rivals. It has earned $641.1 million, well ahead of the second-place film, the Chinese blockbuster Pegasus 3. Project Hail Mary is in third place with $573.1 million, and Hoppers follows closely behind with $367.2 million globally.
Wuthering Heights has earned $241.3 million globally this year, placing it among the top five highest-grossing films. The animated sequel cost Universal Pictures $110 million to produce, and its current worldwide earnings are almost seven times that amount, making it a very profitable venture for the studio.
This family-friendly adventure lasts an hour and 38 minutes and sends Mario on a space journey. The movie expands beyond the Mushroom Kingdom, taking him to new and exciting worlds in outer space.
The movie played in 4,284 theaters across the country during its second weekend. So far, ticket sales within the United States make up about 47.5% of the film’s total earnings worldwide, while international audiences account for the other 52.5%.
