Therefore, anyone attempting to revisit that world and continue the story seemed destined to fall short. However, Villeneuve’s sequel not only lived up to the original’s high standard but also respectfully built upon it, delivering a larger, more intricate, and more daring narrative.

With an entire series to explore the world and Amazon’s vast resources, Blade Runner 2099 has the potential to tell larger, more intricate stories. If the show is crafted as skillfully as 2049 was, it could become one of the decade’s most outstanding science fiction series.
