Mobile gaming news roundup (April 2026): New releases, Industry movements and more

April flew by, just like the first three months of the year. The mobile gaming world was busy with updates, announcements, and a few unexpected moments. As always, I’ve gathered the most important news from April 2026 in this quick summary.

Monthly Mobile Gaming News Roundup for April 2026

Week 1: April 01 to April 07

Executive Summary

The beginning of April set the tone for the rest of the month. New games like Sea of Stars and DropShot Mobile launched worldwide, and Monster Hunter Outlanders and Petit Planet continued testing new versions.

Sign-ups began in Japan for several upcoming mobile games, including ALLfiring, Mori Tale, Dragon Blood: Slayers Academy, and Game of Thrones: Dragonfire. New game announcements were also made for titles like Chaos W, Waltz of the Wizard, Ki-Gou Keikaku, and My Hero Academia UNITED SURVIVAL.

In gaming news, popular titles saw several updates and collaborations: Rise of Kingdoms returned to India, Boom Beach launched on PC, My Talking Angela 2 featured a Barbie collaboration, and a KitKat crossover became a viral trend. These were part of a wider wave of April Fools’ Day-themed content across the gaming world.

Several online games recently announced they will be shutting down, including Rec Room, unVEIL the world, Disney Heroes: Battle Mode, and Mr Love: Queen’s Choice. These closures have been making news headlines.

Week 2: April 08 to April 14

Executive Summary

The second week saw a continuation of the momentum from the first, with several new global releases. These included OneState RP, Jetpack Joyride Racing, and Hidden around the World. Notably, Borderlands Mobile also unexpectedly launched on iOS in the US.

We continued to gradually release and expand several games, including Plants vs Zombies 3: Evolved, Netflix Playground, Pure Crime: Gangster Shooting, Garena Free City, and Genesis War. We also ran testing phases for King’s Raid CBT, Illusion Connect: Re CBT, and the open beta for WELTKRIEG 1: Firestorm.

Okay, so a bunch of cool stuff happened in gaming news this week! I can now pre-register for Battle Through the Heavens 3D, which I’m hyped about. Plus, FANTASY LIFE i and Fuga: Melodies of Steel are both coming to mobile – awesome! Other big news: Roblox is getting a subscription service called Roblox Plus. On a less fun note, MOONTON is really going after cheaters in MLBB, which is good, but sad to hear Clover Games went bankrupt, taking games like Lord of Heroes, HEAVENHELLS, and Ayakashi Rise with it. And surprisingly, Doki Doki Literature Club got pulled from the Play Store, which is… weird.
