The Marvel Cinematic Universe is having a remarkably strong year, arguably its best since the conclusion of the Infinity Saga with Avengers: Endgame. Following a phase of establishing new stories and exploring the multiverse, 2026 has brought back compelling, grounded narratives alongside the setup for a grand finale to the current Multiverse Saga, starting with Avengers: Doomsday.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has an incredible lineup planned for 2026, featuring both the return of beloved characters and huge crossover events fans have anticipated for years. From the conclusion of Daredevil: Born Again season two to the epic team-ups in Doomsday, there are plenty of exciting releases on the horizon.
With all of that covered, here are 10 of the most anticipated moments coming to the MCU in 2026 – moments that have been either officially announced or strongly hinted at. There are actually several more we’re looking forward to in the months ahead!
The End Of Daredevil and Fisk’s Vigilante War (Daredevil: Born Again Season 2)
As the second season of Daredevil: Born Again nears its end with just one episode remaining, the upcoming showdown between Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk feels bigger and more definitive than ever. The conflict has escalated, and the stakes are incredibly high as Daredevil and his allies face off against Mayor Fisk and his task force dedicated to stopping vigilantes.
The season finale of Born Again is set to be an epic showdown. Will the Kingpin, Will Fisk, manage to stay in power as mayor of New York? And can Daredevil truly defeat him, considering Matt Murdock’s refusal to kill? The trailers suggest a battle unlike anything seen before in either the original Daredevil series or this new season.
Considering everything that’s happened, the next battle seems destined to be the ultimate showdown – a truly personal and intense rivalry between a hero and villain, unlike anything we’ve seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The Return Of The Punisher (Punisher: One Last Kill/Spider-Man: Brand New Day)
Jon Bernthal is reprising his role as Frank Castle, the Punisher, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Despite not appearing in the second season of Daredevil: Born Again, he’ll be featured in two upcoming projects. First, a 60-minute Disney+ special called Punisher: One Last Kill – which Bernthal co-wrote and promises to be very intense – will be released shortly after Born Again season 2 ends. Then, he’ll make his big-screen MCU debut alongside Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in the movie Spider-Man: Brand New Day, kicking off what’s being called the “Summer of Punisher.”
Spider-Man’s New Powers (Spider-Man: Brand New Day)
I’m so excited for the new Spider-Man movie! It looks like Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is going to get a huge upgrade. The trailers show him waking up with even more powerful abilities, and it seems he’ll finally be able to shoot organic webbing just like Tobey Maguire did! It’s awesome because he actually met Tobey, along with Andrew Garfield, in Spider-Man: No Way Home, so this feels like a natural progression for his powers.
Fans will be thrilled to see Spider-Man learn to control his powers in the next Marvel movie, which comes out at the end of July.
The Return of Savage Hulk (Spider-Man: Brand New Day)
Fans are especially looking forward to the possible return of the “Savage Hulk” in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and leaks from toys and merchandise strongly suggest it will happen. The first trailer shows Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner teaching a college class that Peter Parker attends, and Banner even cautions Peter about the risks of altered DNA.
Since the end of Avengers: Endgame, Bruce Banner has primarily been the more controlled “Smart Hulk.” However, many fans have been hoping to see the return of the classic, angrier Hulk. It appears the upcoming movie, “Brand New Day,” will deliver just that – a return to the original Hulk, even if Banner doesn’t want it. This sets the stage for an exciting moment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2026: a potential team-up between Spider-Man and Hulk.
The Reveal Of Sadie Sink’s MCU Character (Spider-Man: Brand New Day)
For a while now, fans have been buzzing about Sadie Sink joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. There’s been a lot of guessing about her role – some think she could be Gwen Stacy, Black Cat, or a character connected to the Punisher. Others speculate she might be a new version of Mary Jane Watson, or even the daughter of Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man and MJ from the older Spider-Man movies directed by Sam Raimi.
The most popular theory suggests that Anya Taylor-Joy’s character will be Jean Grey, officially introducing mutants and the X-Men into the main Marvel Cinematic Universe. No matter who she turns out to be, the big reveal in Brand New Day is expected to be a highlight of 2026, and fans are eagerly anticipating it.
Gambit’s Return As A Horseman of Apocalypse (X-Men ’97 Season 2)
The first season of X-Men ’97 ended with a hint of what’s to come: Gambit will return in season 2. Just like in the comics, Apocalypse will resurrect him as one of his Horsemen, and he’ll likely take on the role of Death, as he has in the comic books.
After the events of season one scattered the X-Men throughout time and space, the upcoming reunion of Rogue and Gambit is expected to be a major highlight of X-Men ’97 season two. It will be particularly dramatic if Gambit is compelled to make Rogue battle him while working for Apocalypse.
The Debut of Tommy Maximoff’s Speed (VisionQuest)
Following the events of WandaVision and the Agatha All Along spin-off, the Marvel Cinematic Universe will continue the story of the Maximoff family with a new series called VisionQuest. Expected to premiere in late 2026, the show will star Paul Bettany reprising his role as White Vision, as the android searches for a new meaning and identity. James Spader will also return as Ultron.
Reports indicate that Ruaridh Mollica will play Tommy Shepard, a teenage version of Speed, in upcoming Marvel projects. Speed is the reborn son of Wanda Maximoff and Vision, and the twin brother of Wiccan, who was first introduced in the Disney+ series Agatha All Along.
The MCU has a great opportunity to introduce a significant speedster, a power we haven’t seen prominently since Makkari appeared in 2021’s Eternals. This will also mark the first appearance of another Young Avenger, adding to a team fans have been waiting for that hasn’t fully come together on screen, even after years of groundwork.
Robert Downey Jr. As Doctor Doom (Avengers: Doomsday)
Robert Downey Jr.’s first appearance as Doctor Doom in the upcoming Avengers movie, following Doomsday, is set to be a major highlight of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2026. Doctor Doom is considered one of the most iconic villains in comic book history, and it will be incredibly interesting to see Downey Jr. portray him after his celebrated run as the heroic Iron Man. Fans are eagerly awaiting the public release of the Doomsday trailer, first shown at CinemaCon, for a first glimpse of his take on the character.
Avengers vs X-Men vs Fantastic Four (Avengers: Doomsday)
The upcoming movie, Avengers: Doomsday, will likely include conflicts between the Avengers and both the X-Men and the Fantastic Four. Early previews and reports suggest some specific battles will occur, such as Shang-Chi fighting Gambit, Yelena Belova facing off against Mystique, and Mister Fantastic battling Nightcrawler.
Whether it’s the battles we’ve already seen or those still to come, it’s obvious that Doomsday will deliver a lot of exciting and unforgettable fights.
The Return of Steve Rogers (Avengers: Doomsday)
Early previews have confirmed Chris Evans will reprise his role as Steve Rogers in Avengers: Doomsday, apparently leaving his family life behind to rejoin the action. While some fans might question this return before the movie comes out, it’s likely the Russo Brothers have a good reason for bringing him back. For example, footage shown at CinemaCon featured a reunion between Rogers and Thor, with Rogers even lifting Mjolnir, and it’s already shaping up to be a highlight of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2026.
