JJK Is Finally Over With Official Modulo Anime Release

is officially over with its latest anime release, teasing its ambitious future.

MAPPA, the animation studio behind the popular series, has unveiled a first look at a new anime project planned for release in Japan on May 1, 2026. This preview comes as the third and final volume of JJK Modulo, titled “A Bright Future,” concludes the spinoff series set in the future. Over its six-month run, JJK Modulo revealed what happens to Yuji Itadori and other characters.

Junya Enoki, who voices Yuji Itadori, and Nobunaga Shimazaki, who voices Mahito, both appear in the first preview for the upcoming anime, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo.

Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Gets Official Anime Preview Ahead of Final Volume Release

The first look at the Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo anime shows a battle that connects events from the series’ past and present, bringing the dark fantasy story created by Gege Akutami for Shonen Jump to an end. Akutami wrote JJK Modulo over six months, with Yuji Iwasaki (known for Cipher Academy) handling the artwork.

The manga Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo started in Weekly Shonen Jump on September 8, 2025, and concluded on March 9, 2026, after a run of 25 chapters.

Set 68 years after the Culling Game, JJK Modulo is a new story that follows Tsurugi and Yuka Okkotsu—the grandchildren of Maki Zenin and Yuta Okkotsu—as they face an alien invasion. Joining them is Maru (also known as Marulu Val Vol Yelvori), an alien refugee from the Simuria race who is now on Earth. The series is being described as both a spin-off and a continuation of the original, exploring a ‘what if’ scenario.

Now, the battle to save Earth sends Maru and his allies on a time-traveling quest to find Yuji Itadori and his friends, picking up the story after the original series ended.

Even though the story Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo is set almost 70 years after the Culling Game, that intense battle royale is only now starting in the main Jujutsu Kaisen anime. Season 3 of JJK, which fans had been waiting for, premiered on Crunchyroll on January 8, 2026, and ran for 12 episodes, finishing on March 27, 2026.

I’m excited to see the next season pick up right where the last one stopped – continuing the story from the “Culling Game Arc.” Unfortunately, we still don’t have a definite date for when it will be released, but hopefully that news will come soon.

The intense conflict between users of cursed techniques, known as “#DeathPaintingWander,” is still ongoing, according to the official JJK social media. The story of Yuji and his friends as they try to finish the games will continue in Season 4, titled “Death Painting Wander Part 2.” Keep an eye out for more information soon.

You can watch Jujutsu Kaisen on streaming services like Crunchyroll, Netflix, and Hulu. For reading, both the original series and Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo are available digitally on the Viz Media and Manga Plus apps.

The sequel picks up 68 years after the events of the Culling Game. In 2086, a new threat arrives on Earth – the Simurians, an alien race traveling by spaceship. Now, the world’s fate rests on the shoulders of two powerful jujutsu sorcerers, Yuka and Tsurugi Okkotsu. What kind of conflict will arise when jujutsu sorcery clashes with alien technology?
