Danielle Spencer finally addresses rumour about split with ex-husband Russell Crowe – after showing off her trim frame on red carpet: ‘He’d call me a hundred times a day’

Danielle Spencer has finally clarified what led to her divorce from Russell Crowe, putting an end to years of speculation.

The pair married in 2003, split in 2012, and finalised their divorce in 2018.

There was a lot of talk at the time that Russell Crowe had caused the breakup, but singer Danielle, now 56, says that wasn’t the reason at all.

She told The Sydney Morning Herald that rumors suggesting her marriage ended because of her husband Russell’s growing success and time away are false, at least from her perspective.

‘I don’t need to be with my partner 24 hours a day to feel safe or secure.’

Danielle spoke highly of the 62-year-old actor, describing him as a great father to their two sons, who they raise together.

What I most admire about Russell is his loyalty, and he’s a very thoughtful person. As an actor myself, I completely understood why he needed to be away filming.

‘When our kids – Charlie, now 22, and Tennyson, 19 – were little, I’d travel with him.’

She explained that when they were separated, they made an effort to stay connected, either by visiting Russell or through frequent phone calls – sometimes he’d call her over and over throughout the day.

Danielle turned heads at the APRA Music Awards in Sydney on Wednesday, wearing a stylish lace outfit that highlighted her fit physique.

She made a striking impression in her all-black outfit, featuring wide-leg trousers, and completed the look with sunglasses and multiple gold necklaces.

It comes after Danielle recently spoke about the guilt she felt following her 2018 divorce.

The actress and musician discussed her breakup with the famous star after 15 years together on the Stellar podcast, ‘Something To Talk About’.

She told podcast host Sarrah Le Marquand that it was incredibly painful to end a relationship with someone she’d known for years and shared children with.

I felt like I was the one causing my family to split apart, which made me feel incredibly guilty. However, I believed it was a necessary step, and I wouldn’t have made that difficult decision if I hadn’t thought it was essential.

Danielle shared that while she and Russell are now good friends and successfully co-parent their sons, getting to this point after their divorce was difficult.

She admitted there were definitely difficult times and moments of unhappiness during the relationship, and she wanted to make it clear that the breakup wasn’t easy or seamless.

Russell has previously revealed that he is still in close contact with his ex-wife.

Russell recently appeared on The Kyle and Jackie O Show to talk about an upcoming one-night performance, and he revealed a surprising artist will be opening for him.

Kyle Sandilands, who used to host the show, praised the Australian actor for successfully maintaining a friendly relationship with his former partner.

Russell said everyone was doing well, and he was especially happy about his kids’ reaction. They told him they thought what he was doing was ‘really excellent’.
