I was so surprised and excited to see Tan France’s new hair! The Queer Eye star revealed a completely different look yesterday, and it’s amazing. He really transformed his style!
The 43-year-old reality TV star showed off a dramatically different look on Instagram with a new hairstyle. He debuted freshly dyed, neatly combed black hair.
Alongside the clip, he wrote in his caption that his new look was ‘NOT mid-life crisis hair!’
In the video, he talked about dyeing his usually silver hair for a new acting role, and promised fans he’d return to his natural color once filming was finished.
‘Don’t freak out,’ he began by saying in the clip. ‘I know my hair’s dark. It’s fine.’
He explained, “Actually, no, it isn’t. I realize it’s strange seeing me with dark hair—it’s strange for me to look at myself with dark hair, too.”
I didn’t plan on talking about this, but I’ve been out a couple of times recently and people seem puzzled,” France explained. “I want to be clear: this isn’t a midlife crisis.”
He further added that he is not fond of the dyed look and prefers his natural hair.
‘I hate dark hair on me,’ he said in the Instagram reel.
He expressed his love for his silver and gray hair, stating he wasn’t just okay with them, but genuinely proud to have them.
He finished the video by saying he plans to return to his normal hair color within the next month or two, and asked people not to worry about the change.
Currently, France is the filming location for the upcoming holiday comedy, ‘Clashing Through the Snow,’ which stars Christopher Briney and Julia Fox.
A flurry of fans and fellow celebrities took to the comments section to opine about his look.
Supermodel Gigi Hadid jokingly posted a message saying, ‘Hahahahaha Tannyyyy, this is you in another universe!’ along with four laughing emojis.
His new movie takes inspiration from the classic film Planes, Trains and Automobiles, telling the story of two colleagues traveling across the country together.
After appearing on Queer Eye – a show some described as stressful – France has continued to work as an actor and voice actor, even landing a role in an episode of Deli Boys.
Beyond his professional life, he prioritizes his family. He and his husband, Rob France, are raising two children together.
They welcomed their first son Ismail via surrogate in July 2021.
Two years later, they expanded their family and welcomed their second son Isaac in May 2023.
The couple are currently raising their two young children in Salt Lake City, Utah.
