This Documentary Shows Why Venues Need Your Support Now More Than Ever

Following a successful series of events focused on new artists, Beatport and Miller have expanded their support to include music venues with the Grassroots Venue Fund. This fund provides €15,000 (about $18,000 USD) to venues to help them improve their facilities and offer more events.

I was really excited to hear what Miller had to say about their new initiative! Basically, they believe the best nights out come from the energy of local artists and venues. That’s why they created the Grassroots Venue Fund – it’s their way of supporting the places that make those amazing experiences happen. They said it’s incredibly fulfilling to see how this funding is actually helping these venues thrive, and honestly, that’s awesome to hear!

The fund provided support to several local venues, including Revolver Upstairs in Melbourne, Australia; Pixel in Ankara, Turkey; and Expresszó Klub in Veszprém, Hungary. By investing in these establishments, the fund helped strengthen the broader nightlife culture in each of those cities.

I just watched this really interesting documentary series by Beatport and Miller, and it’s been amazing seeing how different clubs are adapting to survive. One episode focused on Revolver Upstairs in Melbourne, a club that’s been a huge part of the nightlife scene since 1997. It was a bit shocking to hear from Henry Fosters, a resident DJ there, that they’ve been really struggling with things like rising costs, rent, and even noise complaints. Thankfully, they received some funding, and the Entertainment Manager, Henry Who, explained it’ll let them keep being creative and bringing in artists – which is great news for everyone who loves that club!

So, I was checking out what’s happening over in Hungary, and Expresszó Klub just dropped another update. Apparently, some funding really helped them upgrade the place – they got a brand new stage and sound system! I read an interview with their co-founder, Straub Gergő, and he’s super excited. He said they’re planning to keep things interesting and give new artists a platform to perform in the coming year. Sounds awesome!
