Ray J’s public image has taken a hit recently due to a number of highly publicized controversies.

He recently caused a stir when he boasted about having slept with 12,500 women, leading fans to doubt the claim given his age of 45.

Yet that is far from the only time he’s left fans questioning his claims. 

Singer Brandy’s brother, Ray J, surprised people in December when he was seen hitchhiking from Tampa, Florida, to Los Angeles, asking for food and a place to stay.

He said he was shooting a test episode for a show called ‘Celebrity Hitching,’ but then panned the camera around to show he was alone.

‘It’s real, and I’m all by myself. As you can see, nobody’s with me,’ he said.

I really need to find food and a safe place to stay. I’ve been through a lot lately, and all I want is to go home and be with my children.

I’m creating a show based on hitchhiking, and I want it to feel completely genuine. I film everything myself, just using my phone – I have a camera built in, of course, but it’s all me doing the work.

Ray J recently shared that he’s been going through a difficult time, and asked his fans for support, including a place to stay and some financial assistance.

Another video surfaced showing Ray J at a casino with a woman, and reports indicated he only had $800 remaining.

The videos surfaced shortly after his Thanksgiving arrest, which occurred when he reportedly threatened his estranged wife, Princess Love, with a gun.

The singer was arrested around 4:00am, according to Daily Mail records from that time. They were charged with making criminal threats, specifically what authorities described as intentionally causing fear and terrorizing someone.

Police confirmed to TMZ that the event took place at a home in the Porter Ranch area of Los Angeles.

Police had responded to a call regarding a possible domestic disturbance involving threats.

Ray J was taken into custody and spent a few hours in jail before being released on a $50,000 bail.

The celebrity unexpectedly joined a Twitch stream and said he was experiencing a terrible Thanksgiving. He also stated someone was trying to take his children and that he’d received threats.

During a recent live stream, Ray J was seen reaching for a handgun and appeared to load it. Shortly after, his wife, Princess Love, came into view while holding one of their children.

She claimed the singer aimed a gun at her and their daughter, but Ray J said this wasn’t true. The situation became even more tense when another man showed up on the live stream.

Princess Love and Ray J tied the knot in 2016 at The Cathedral of St. Vibiana in Los Angeles, a beautiful Catholic church.

Their relationship has been quite rocky, with the couple going through the process of divorce and getting back together on four separate occasions.

Ray J and Kim Kardashian were in a relationship from 2003 to 2006. During that time, they filmed a private video that was later leaked to the public in 2007.

Just before Thanksgiving, he sued Kim Kardashian and her mother, Kris Jenner, alleging they were all involved in the leak of a damaging video.

Kardashian family lawyer Alex Spiro responded to Ray J’s claims by telling the Daily Mail that these actions are a desperate attempt to distract from his weakening case. Spiro is confident Ray J will lose this lawsuit, which he considers to be without merit.

Ray J revealed he once dated Whitney Houston and was deeply saddened by her death. He says they were actually going to announce their relationship to the world right before she passed away.

It’s still so heartbreaking to think about Whitney Houston’s passing. She was only 48 when she tragically drowned in her hotel room back in 2012. There was a lot of speculation afterward, and sadly, Ray J even had to publicly state he wasn’t with her at the time, which just shows how much misinformation spread during that difficult period.

Ray J says he’s been going through a difficult period and feels unsupported by his family, specifically claiming his sister Brandy and parents are ashamed of him.

In an interview on the Drop the Lo podcast last year, he shared that while he loves his sister, he feels like he disappoints his family. He explained that he doesn’t seek their acceptance, simply feeling he’s a source of embarrassment to them.

He had previously stated that Brandy and he had different goals from the start of their relationship.

Even though we’re all connected, I need to keep some distance. Recently, I haven’t been invited to certain events, and honestly, I’m okay with that.

I get why people are reacting the way they are. I’m just experimenting with things that are a bit more unconventional, bolder, and more over-the-top. Sometimes it might even be a little shocking.

He might be talking about his well-known disagreements and conflicts with other famous people when he mentions ‘distasteful’ behavior.

Back in 2011, reports surfaced of a physical altercation between Ray J and the rapper Fabolous while they were in Las Vegas. Although they’ve resolved their differences now, both initially insisted they were the victor.

Last year, Ray J called out Kodak Black for a fight after the rapper threatened him because of Ray J’s comments about his looks.

Disturbingly, in 2024 Ray J claimed he was ‘shot at’ by someone trying to kill him. 

Originally from Mississippi, the man became visibly upset and launched into a profanity-filled rant, suggesting a conflict with someone or a group of people whose identity wasn’t clear.

Ray J didn’t say who he thinks shot at him in the video, nor did he share any other information about what happened, such as whether he reported it to the police.

The video surfaced two weeks after reports of a fight involving Diddy’s sons – King Combs, Quincy Brown, and Justin Dior Combs – outside a Halloween party in Los Angeles hosted by influencer Tara Electra.

According to reports from TMZ, Diddy’s sons approached the singer to discuss public statements Ray J had made about Diddy while he was facing legal issues.

Sources say Ray J was surrounded by his siblings, who became very confrontational, bumping chests and getting extremely close to each other. Apparently, two of his brothers, Justin and Christian, were actively looking for a physical altercation.

Chris Brown witnessed the unfolding conflict from his car and quickly intervened. He managed to calm things down by physically separating the brothers and stepping between them and Ray J’s manager, David.

We also heard that several people tried to break up the fight, but thankfully, no one was hurt.

Apparently, the siblings had tried to talk to Ray J about his statements on three separate occasions before this.

According to TMZ, Ray J stated he was happy to talk with Sean “Diddy” Combs’s sons, but he would have fought all three of them after they made disrespectful remarks.

According to the report, Ray J still views Diddy and his children as family, but he wouldn’t allow himself to be disrespected by them.

It is unclear if the alleged shooting had any connection to Ray J’s argument with Diddy’s kids.

Ray J has been prioritizing his well-being lately, following a January announcement that he was taking eight medications and believed he didn’t have much time left to live.

He recently gave an update on his health after being treated in a Las Vegas hospital in January. He had gone to the emergency room because of chest pain and a serious bout of pneumonia.

While juggling his reality TV projects, he unexpectedly revealed some troubling news on Instagram, sharing that he doesn’t expect to live much longer.

During the video, he stated, ‘My doctors say 2027 will be my last year.’

After a recent health issue, he said he’s been advised to prioritize his health and well-being. He admitted he pushed himself too far, saying, “I shouldn’t have overdone it.”

He also shared his wishes for his wife, Princess Love, and their children, and what he hoped they would remember him for.

Ray J and his wife welcomed their daughter, Melody, in 2018, and their son, Epik, in 2020.

I’m confident my children and I will be okay. Whatever they choose to do with their resources is up to them – I’ve done everything I can to provide for them.

He continued: ‘And d***, when it’s all done, burn me. Don’t bury me.’
