Warning! This article contains MAJOR SPOILERS for Daredevil: Born Again season 2, episode 7.
The seventh episode of Daredevil: Born Again season 2 builds excitement for the finale, revealing a secret plan by Matt Murdock that could drastically alter the course of events for Daredevil. This action-packed episode moves the story forward quickly, develops key characters, and leaves viewers with many unanswered questions as they head into the final episode.
Following an incident where Karen Page was threatened by AVTF officer Powell, it’s revealed he didn’t immediately harm her. Instead, he took her into custody, and she’s now facing trial. However, the legal proceedings shown in the Daredevil: Born Again storyline haven’t always been fair, often siding with powerful figures like the vengeful and corrupt Kingpin.
Murdock Vs. Fisk Moves To The Courtroom
Although the court case in this episode officially pits Karen Page against New York City, it’s really a confrontation between Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk. Fisk himself confirms this by visiting Karen in jail and urging her to reach out to Matt, hoping to draw him into the conflict.
Matt knows this could be a setup, but he’s stepping out of hiding to help Karen. He appears in court with Kristin McDuffie to represent her and uses the opportunity to address the people of New York, publicly condemning the AVTF and Mayor Fisk for the damage they’ve caused.
Fisk is following the events from his office. Although he sent his enforcers after Matt, hoping to harm or even kill him as he left the courthouse, Matt survived with just a gunshot wound and is now even more determined to confront the Kingpin.
Heather Glenn Is Embracing Her Dark Side
Fisk is reaching out to his contacts for help, and this is evident in District Attorney Hochberg’s request for Heather to lie and falsify reports about supposed criminals. Specifically, Hochberg asks Heather to question Karen Page and find information that backs up his legal arguments, and she immediately agrees.
Now that Heather has become accustomed to the shady dealings within Fisk’s organization, it’s understandable she’d be willing to act dishonestly to hurt her former partner, Matt Murdock. However, killing Muse last season on Daredevil: Born Again has also begun to unravel her usually composed demeanor.
Heather’s behavior has become increasingly erratic, suggesting a decline in her mental health. It’s ironic that she accuses others of being unstable, considering her own actions. The situation escalates when she physically attacks Karen, repeatedly slapping her. It’s clear Heather is heading down a troubling path, and things are rapidly getting worse.
Bullseye And Jessica Jones Tackled Their Own Side Quests
As Wilson Fisk strengthens his position and gathers support, Daredevil’s allies are working hard to make sure their fight against the Kingpin and his corrupt system is successful. Meanwhile, Bullseye, now reluctantly working with Daredevil, stops an assassination plot against the Governor orchestrated by Fisk.
After Jessica Jones learned about the planned attack on the governor from Mr. Charles, she shared the information with Daredevil, helping him in his fight against Fisk. Meanwhile, Jessica is also hoping to reunite with Luke Cage, believing Mr. Charles may be able to help them rebuild their family.
Despite having their own reasons for getting involved, Murdock’s allies are successfully cooperating, which will ultimately allow them to reach their individual goals and take down Fisk’s operation.
Daniel Freed BB Ulrich, And He Paid The Price
Fisk’s group is facing internal problems. He’s alienated Mr. Charles, causing him to turn against Fisk, and he’s pressured his own people into doing things they don’t agree with. A good example is Daniel Blake, who’s been desperately trying to win Fisk’s approval, but was recently forced to help bury a body alongside Buck Cashman.
Daniel wasn’t a criminal at heart; he simply tried to support Fisk and follow directions. However, his feelings for BB were stronger. When he discovered BB had betrayed him by creating the ‘City Without Fear’ broadcasts – which used confidential information to ridicule Fisk – Daniel was deeply hurt.
This resulted in Daniel planning to betray BB, but when the time came to let Buck kill her, he couldn’t go through with it. He let BB escape and faced Buck by himself, admitting he hadn’t followed orders. In a shocking turn of events, Buck shot Daniel, despite their growing friendship and Daniel’s desperate pleas – marking the most surprising moment of the season so far.
Matt Murdock Is About To Make A Choice He Can’t Take Back
Throughout the seventh episode of Daredevil: Born Again season 2, a key detail suggests major changes are coming for Matt Murdock. While characters like Karen Page and Jessica Jones have been urging Matt to kill Fisk, he’s indicated he’ll have to go too far, but not in the way they anticipate.
Matt unexpectedly showing up to support Karen in court is a big deal, signaling he’s becoming more active. It seems like this is just the beginning of his strategy. He likely plans to reveal himself as Daredevil to win public support and expose Mayor Fisk’s dishonesty, which could have significant consequences for the show and potentially the broader Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has seen a few instances of heroes revealing their secret identities, and Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, stands to benefit from this more than most. To avoid taking the law into his own hands with Wilson Fisk and to strengthen his image as both a hero and a vigilante, revealing his identity as Daredevil could be a key move in the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series.
