The latest installment of the animated series is introducing a brand new main character, effectively replacing a beloved figure from previous seasons. Though the show continues to explore the story of Sam Witwer’s Sith Lord in the aftermath of the Empire’s ascent, this new character is entirely original and takes center stage.
The story Maul – Shadow Lord introduces Devon Izara, a Jedi whose path could lead to the dark side. Lucasfilm seems to be positioning her as the new Ahsoka Tano, a character designed to appeal to a new generation of Star Wars fans as the franchise moves forward.
Maul — Shadow Lord Introduces Star Wars’ Ahsoka Tano Replacement
The world of Star Wars has a new character, Devon Izara, stepping in after Ahsoka Tano. Devon is a Padawan learner under Eeko-Dio Daki and survived the tragic Order 66. She and her master first appear in Maul Shadow Lord, catching the attention of Darth Maul while living on the remote planet Janix. Maul sees potential in them and decides to teach them the ways of the Dark Side.
As a huge fan, I’ve noticed a really interesting parallel between Devon and Ahsoka. They both start out as Padawans, learning the ways of the Force, but their training gets interrupted by the massive changes happening in the galaxy. Neither of them got to fully become Jedi before Order 66 basically destroyed the Jedi Order and brought the Empire to power. After that, both characters had to figure out their Force abilities on their own, while also just trying to survive under this new, really oppressive regime.
As a huge Star Wars fan, I always felt like Ahsoka Tano was so important because so many of us first experienced the Clone Wars and the rise of the Empire through her story. She really connected a younger generation to everything that happened. Now, it feels like Maul: Shadow Lord is doing something similar by introducing Devon Izara. I get the feeling she’s going to be how a whole new wave of fans discovers this corner of the Star Wars universe, and we’ll experience her journey across the upcoming seasons.
Devon Izara might be a new character with a surprising connection to Ahsoka Tano – potentially a darker version of her. While Ahsoka has always fought against the Dark Side and become a symbol of goodness, Devon seems destined to fall into darkness. Darth Maul is actively trying to make her his apprentice. This creates a fascinating contrast with Ahsoka’s journey and explores a ‘what if’ scenario – what if Ahsoka had given in to the darkness earlier in her life? Devon’s story could show us the path Ahsoka avoided, highlighting the corrupting influences that could have changed her fate.
Devon Izara Represents the Next Generation of Star Wars Storytelling
The series Maul Shadow Lord effectively introduces Ahsoka Tano’s successor, Devon Izara, giving a new generation of Star Wars fans a way to experience the franchise’s events. Similar to Ahsoka, Devon’s story has the potential to unfold over many years and across multiple projects. Ahsoka’s journey has already spanned Tales of the Jedi, Star Wars: Rebels, and her own Disney+ series, and the same could be true for her successor.
The story of Devon Izara will continue after the first season ends. Future seasons of the Disney+ animated series will show how Darth Maul turns her into his apprentice, leading her away from the Jedi teachings and towards the dark side of the Force. Similar to how Ahsoka Tano developed her connection to the light side, Devon will become more powerful in the dark side during the events of Maul Shadow Lord. However, her journey is likely far from over.
Devon Izara is a new character in the Star Wars universe, unlike Darth Maul whose story unfolded in Star Wars: Rebels. Her future is currently open-ended, as established in Maul Shadow Lord, giving Lucasfilm the opportunity to develop her story further, similar to how Ahsoka Tano’s journey extended beyond The Clone Wars. It’s possible Devon could even live longer than her master, potentially appearing in the Original Trilogy or even later eras.
As a huge Star Wars fan, I’ve been following all the theories about Devon Izara, and honestly, the idea of her becoming Darth Talon is really compelling! It would be amazing if she filled that role. We’ve always been told the Sith were gone after Return of the Jedi, with Vader and Palpatine defeated. But let’s be real, Darth Maul always throws a wrench into those plans, doesn’t he? It would totally fit his character if he secretly started a new line of Sith, one that could even survive beyond his old master. It’s a fascinating possibility and I’m excited to see where the story goes!
As a huge Star Wars fan, I’m really excited by the idea that Devon Izara could be setting up a whole new line of Sith Lords! It makes so much sense, considering she left her master before the events of Rebels. I’m picturing her taking on an apprentice, and this secret lineage of Sith could even show up during the New Republic era – maybe we’ll see hints of it in Ahsoka Season 2? Honestly, I have a feeling Devon Izara is going to be a game-changer for the Star Wars universe, and could really shake up everything we thought we knew!
Devon Izara’s Introduction Comes Just in Time
Devon Izara arrives at a perfect moment, and she’s more than just a new character – she’s poised to take Ahsoka Tano’s place. After nearly two decades since Ahsoka’s debut in 2008’s Star Wars: The Clone Wars, it seems the beloved character is nearing the end of her story. With Ahsoka potentially moving on, Star Wars needs a new hero like Devon Izara to step up.
The second season of Ahsoka is coming out later this year, and it appears it will also be the last. While Lucasfilm hasn’t officially confirmed it, this season will likely conclude both the series and Ahsoka Tano’s story. Her upcoming confrontation with Grand Admiral Thrawn will probably be her final adventure, whether she wins or loses. Either way, her story is reaching its end.
Now that Ahsoka is no longer in the picture, the creators have a great opportunity to introduce a new character who could fill her role. Devon Izara seems like a perfect fit, but her storyline is expected to be significantly more intense and grim than Ahsoka’s. Fans of Star Wars should keep watching future episodes of Maul Shadow Lord to find out how the franchise will develop this new character.
