The animated series Hazbin Hotel has three seasons remaining to fully develop its most compelling villain. It was announced in April 2026 that season 5 will be the show’s final season. Originally starting on Prime Video in 2024, the musical series was first introduced through a pilot episode on YouTube in 2019. Currently, season 2 has concluded, setting up Lilith’s comeback and the beginning of a new storyline.
With three seasons still to come, Hazbin Hotel promises to further develop its characters and storylines. We can expect to see Alastor growing more powerful, and Charlie will finally connect with her mother, who’s been hiding in Heaven. Plus, the show is setting up a more complex and emotional arc for Angel Dust in season 3.
The show has a lot of potential for future storylines, with several villains who haven’t had their full stories explored yet. This includes Alastor, who escaped Rosie’s control at the end of season two, and Lute, who is poised to continue Adam’s work of exterminating imps, despite not yet having a dedicated villain arc.
Future seasons of Hazbin Hotel could bring back its most compelling villain, Vox. As the leader of the Vees and owner of VoxTek, he was the primary antagonist in season 2, almost conquering Heaven before Valentino and Velvette intervened to save Pentagram City. Though currently incapacitated, he’s still alive, leaving the possibility for his return in later seasons.
Why Vox Needs A Major Role In The Rest Of Hazbin Hotel
The season 2 finale of Hazbin Hotel shows Vox being abandoned by his own Vees—whom he had treated poorly while trying to take over Heaven. This leads to Valentino violently removing his head. Surprisingly, Vox isn’t killed; he’s transformed into just a TV screen and forced to watch as the other Overlords work together to prevent Lilith’s power from destroying Hell.
Though the ending is a bit sad for Vox, it’s also meant to be funny. After so much build-up, his character meets a surprisingly quick and underwhelming end. Songs from Hazbin Hotel season 2, like “VOX DEI” and “Brighter,” really emphasized how strong and impressive he was, making the suddenness of his defeat in the finale even more impactful.
Despite the challenges, the show’s creator, Vivienne Medrano, wants to continue exploring Vox’s character. She’s confirmed he’ll be back in season 3 of Hazbin Hotel, and his story will unfold throughout the rest of the series. This could mean he’ll once again become a threat, potentially trying to take over Heaven.
When Vox returns, he might be part of a larger plan to share power in Heaven with the Vees. Though his friends are now wary of him, the show has several more seasons to explore his motivations. This could make him a compelling character as he struggles with defeat, and potentially even a threat once more.
Vox Could Lead His Own Hazbin Hotel Sequel Show
The story of Vox in Hazbin Hotel might eventually lead to a spin-off series centered around the Vees. Although not officially announced, creator Vivienne Medrano has hinted at the possibility of a Vees spin-off in the future. How Vox’s story unfolds this season could set the stage for a show starring him, though it likely wouldn’t happen immediately.
The Hellaverse already has successful spinoffs, starting with Helluva Boss, which debuted on YouTube in October 2020 – over three years before Hazbin Hotel began. Season 3 of Helluva Boss is coming to Prime Video in Fall 2026, and this suggests that more shows set in this universe could be coming, potentially including one focused on the character Vox.
As a huge fan of Hazbin Hotel, I’m really hoping they explore Vox’s character more! Season 2 showed just how powerful he is, and I think a spin-off focused on him and the other Vees would be amazing. It just makes sense to build on that strength and really establish him as a major threat as the series goes on – a truly dangerous villain we can all love to hate.
