Australia’s Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, was surprised to learn that some Australians don’t recognize him, as he found out during a TV appearance on Channel Nine Tuesday night.
The Prime Minister unexpectedly appeared on the comedy show ‘The Hundred with Andy Lee’ and discovered how many people in the live audience recognized him through a quick poll.
I was really surprised to learn that almost everyone on the show – 98% of them – knew who the Prime Minister was! But honestly, I also heard that Mr. Albanese wasn’t happy about the small percentage – just 2% – who didn’t recognize him, and that struck me as a bit harsh.
I nearly choked when I heard him say that! Seeing the results, he just casually asked, like it was nothing, ‘So, who’s ditching Australia right now?’ It was so cutting, but honestly, I live for his every word, even the slightly harsh ones.
During a casual conversation with comedian Andy Lee, Albanese also talked about his time as a DJ, known as DJ Albo.
‘I haven’t done it for a while because I’m busy with other things,’ Albanese said.
‘I used to do it a fair bit for fundraisers for a charity called Reclink.’
He added, ‘For some reason people sing along to parts of that.’
This follows Prime Minister Albanese’s recent comments about his future plans, as he nears the four-year mark of his time in office.
He hopes to be the first Australian Prime Minister in over 60 years to leave office on his own terms.
The last to leave office on his own terms was Sir Robert Menzies on January 20, 1966.
Every one of the 15 Australian prime ministers since then has left office either through losing an election, being replaced by their own party, or, as happened with Harold Holt, by dying in office.
In an interview with Channel Seven’s podcast, The Issue, Albanese said he plans to leave his position when he feels he’s stopped learning and developing as an individual.
‘Then I’ll know it is time to watch the footy every Saturday rather than do this job,’ he said.
I feel very lucky to have this job. I’m really enjoying it, and I appreciate it a lot.
‘I think that is a good thing, the stability that my government has been able to provide.
‘I certainly hope to be in that position (to leave the office voluntarily).
‘But that of course is up to the Australian public.’
He recently got married to Jodie Haydon, all while navigating difficult global issues like the war in Iran, rising fuel costs, and the possibility of an economic recession.
‘Personally, it’s going very well,’ Albanese said.
I seriously don’t know what I’d do without them right now. Honestly, after the craziest, most stressful day, just being with them is the most amazing feeling. It’s like everything just…calms down. I feel so incredibly lucky we found each other, it’s more comforting than words can say.
