A new trailer for the psychological thriller Verity features a passionate kiss between Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson.

The actresses, aged 43 and 36, surprised viewers with a kiss in the new trailer released by Amazon MGM Studios on Monday.

In a surprising moment, Johnson shares a passionate kiss with Josh Hartnett, which then transitions to a kiss with Hathaway. The scene ends with a violent bite, leaving both characters with bloodied mouths.

Verity tells the story of Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer who receives a surprising and incredible job opportunity.

Successful thriller author Verity Crawford (Hathaway) is injured in an accident, leaving her unable to write. Her husband, Jeremy (Hartnett), hires Lowen to complete her unfinished book series in secret.

When Lowen starts her job at the couple’s luxurious home, she finds an incomplete book that hints at troubling secrets from Verity and her husband’s history.

The budding author must keep working for Jeremy while she figures out if the stories she’s writing are just made up, or a frightening prediction from a troubled woman.

Colleen Hoover originally self-published Verity in 2018. The book gained huge popularity with readers, and in 2021, Grand Central Publishing acquired it.

The movie also stars Ismael Cruz Cordova and Brady Wagner.

Anne Hathaway was first confirmed to star in the film in November 2024, right after the movie version of Colleen Hoover’s novel, It Ends With Us, came out.

This author, who typically writes romance and young adult novels, has faced criticism in the past for relying on predictable storylines and a somewhat unoriginal writing style.

When Hathaway signed on to the film, fans on X expressed disappointment.
