Okay, so there’s this new spy show called Secret Service that just dropped on ITV tonight at 9pm. But honestly, I’m not trying to wait – I just jumped on ITVX and already started watching all five episodes. It’s available to stream right now if you want to binge it too!
The second episode will be on TV tomorrow night at the usual time. The last three episodes will then air on the following Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.
The series features Gemma Arterton as Kate Henderson, a top MI6 agent, who uncovers evidence that a prominent British politician may be a Russian operative.

This suspenseful thriller follows Kate as she uncovers a dangerous conspiracy within the highest levels of government. As trust erodes around her, she finds herself caught in a web of lies where everyone’s motives are suspect, and revealing the truth could have devastating consequences.
When a shocking murder puts her team under intense scrutiny, Kate struggles to balance the perils of her secret agent life with the demands of family and the need to safeguard her public image.

The show features Gemma Arterton alongside a talented cast including Mark Stanley (known from Happy Valley), Rochenda Sandall (Line of Duty), Roger Allam (The Thick of It), Rafe Spall (Life of Pi), and Alex Kingston (Doctor Who), among others.
James Marsh, the director of The Theory of Everything, helmed this series. The script was adapted from the novel by Tom Bradby, who is also known as the presenter of ITV News at Ten.

At the time of writing, there’s only one critic review out there, published by Radio Times.
The review criticized the show for including too many familiar faces from ITV, calling it a major distraction and obvious advertising for the channel.
The review notes that when well-known personalities like Robert Peston, Susanna Reid, and Ed Balls appear as themselves to interview the show’s fictional politicians, it overshadows the performances of the professional actors, such as Alex Kingston and Roger Allam.
Will other reviews agree? We’ll have to see once more are published.
Secret Service premieres at 9pm on ITV1 tonight, or can be streamed in full on ITVX now.
The latest issue of Living Legends is now available! This special 100-page, full-color magazine celebrates the life and work of Sir David Attenborough. You can find it at newsstands or order it online.
