Bailey Zimmerman took the Stagecoach stage on Friday night, playing a mix of his popular country songs like “Religiously” and “Where It Ends.” He also surprised the crowd with a cover of Miley Cyrus’ “The Climb” and a performance of his duet, “All the Way,” with BigXthaPlug. Before the show, I chatted with the 26-year-old singer inside a pop-up shop decorated with denim, sponsored by American Eagle – Zimmerman is a spokesperson for the brand.
So, were you hoping to meet Sydney Sweeney when you became an American Eagle ambassador? I get why you’d think that, but honestly, it meant a lot more to me than that. It felt like things came full circle because I was already a huge fan – I literally had all of their underwear before I even signed the deal! They couldn’t even send me more because I already owned everything.
Do you get free jeans?
They give me everything for free.
Could you possibly get me a pair of free jeans? I was thinking I could pretend they’re for me, but actually they’d be for you.
By my count, this is your fourth Stagecoach in a row.
Yep.
You absolutely won’t want to miss this! It’s my favorite time of year – it’s amazing. I come out here every weekend. I started bringing my best friends a few years ago, and we’ve made it a tradition ever since. Now, they’re all bringing their partners, since we’re all getting older and settling down. It’s just a big get-together that I really look forward to.
Remember when you mentioned wanting to get married last year? Any luck with the wife search? Well, honestly, I’m just taking things as they come. I’m trusting God’s plan and letting things happen naturally.
You’re a Justin Bieber guy.
Beliebe it.
I was worried about checking out “Swag II” because I really love the first album, “Swag.” But once I started listening, I thought it was amazing! Both albums are fantastic, and I enjoy listening to either one.
Did you watch Bieberchella?
Yes!
I really enjoyed the whole YouTube experience! It was completely different from anything I’ve seen before, and honestly, I think it was iconic. It’s definitely something people will remember for a long time.
Someone asked me what my first truck was, since my song ‘Chevy Silverado’ is doing well on the radio. It’s a pretty simple story, actually – a white 2005 Chevy Silverado. That’s exactly what the song is all about – my first truck!
Oh, absolutely! I just assumed you were adding details for the story. But you’re saying this actually happened? My grandpa had a 2005 Chevy Silverado crew cab, short bed, and I ended up buying it from him. I had to take out a loan from my local bank because things were tough financially. If his used car business had been doing well, he probably would have just given it to me, but it wasn’t, so I had to get a loan and make payments. Just grown-up stuff, you know?
Do you remember that truck? I still have it. To be honest, I didn’t expect anyone to connect with the song because it’s so personal. Every lyric comes from my own life, so it’s amazing to see people listening and enjoying it – it’s really cool!
