Rami Malek: Racially Profiled by LAPD, Thrown on Cop Car Bonnet

Rami Malek once mentioned an instance where he believes he was targeted based on his race by the LAPD (Los Angeles Police Department) previously.

In a recent conversation with The Guardian, the actor known for Mr. Robot, aged 43 and in a relationship with Emma Corrin from The Crown, shared insights on a delicate predicament he’s facing.

The topic was brought up as the Oscar winner had discussions about issues with mistaken identity.

In simpler terms, Malek explained that he found himself on the hood of a police cruiser due to a liquor store robbery and the theft of a woman’s purse.

The California-born actor, a child of Egyptian immigrants, noted, ‘They suggested the suspect was of Latin origin and remarked, “You match the profile.”‘

In his account for The Guardian, Rami didn’t provide any additional details about the event or subsequent events.

Yet, he discussed encountering racial profiling at airports due to his full name, Rami Said Malek, which often triggered security concerns.
