Leonardo DiCaprio called out for ‘disrespectful’ act in Fiji as he checks out of hotel
As someone who has spent countless hours watching Leonardo DiCaprio grace our screens with his exceptional acting skills, I must say that it is disheartening to witness such an instance of seemingly disregard for local customs and hospitality. While I understand that celebrities crave their privacy to some extent, the traditional Fijian welcome ceremony seems like a small price to pay for the warmth and beauty of their culture.
This week, it was noted that Leonardo DiCaprio failed to attend a customary Fijian farewell ceremony before leaving his hotel in Nadi.
On TikTok, there’s a video showing a 50-year-old Hollywood star exiting the hotel, with staff gathering to sing a cheerful goodbye song as he departed.
Leonardo, donning black attire and shades, seemed to answer a phone call shortly after entering the lobby, while hotel employees stood by to bid him goodbye.
The Titanic star then quickly dipped his head down and rushed past the crowd to an awaiting car.
A significant number of admirers found it unusual that Leonardo didn’t respond to those who were singing to him, and a few even deemed his actions as showing a lack of respect.

A third person concurred, stating, ‘He should have at least returned our country’s greeting. There’s no place quite like Fiji.’
One fan commented, “He completely disregarded the friendly gesture,” while another put it this way, “No sign of appreciation or even a nod.
Some even accused Leonardo of ‘pretending to take the phone call’.
Yet, some people justified Leonardo’s quiet exit, with one commenting: “Perhaps this is his initial visit to Fiji… Let him enjoy himself in peace.
Someone mentioned that the team should employ good judgment and understand that A-list celebrities generally dislike receiving such attention in public.
‘Well at least they know not to do it again and respect his privacy,’ another person added.
After Leonardo’s birthday celebration with an illustrious group of friends like Brad Pitt and Steven Spielberg, the journey follows suit.
The party took place on a private estate overlooking the Hollywood Hills, however, the actor employed the services of an elite, members-only club to keep the event discreet, as reported by Page Six.
Leonardo had guests cover the cameras on their phones with stickers from the San Vicente Bungalows.
At the party, there were 500 attendees who concealed their mobile devices using stickers. However, the organizers prepared an additional 700 stickers as a precautionary measure.
