As I delve into this heartwarming tale of Farrah Fawcett, I am struck by the depth and resilience that shone through her journey. From her radiant smile to her fierce spirit, she was more than just a screen siren or a Charlie’s Angel; she was a friend, a daughter, an actress who dared to march to her own drum.

Jaclyn Smith discusses the true nature of her colleagues, Farrah Fawcett and Kate Jackson, when working together on Charlie’s Angels.

The 78-year-old told People on Wednesday there was no drama. And never did they have catfights.

The clothing designer explained, “We were simply enjoying ourselves. It felt much like the bond between college roommates. We were self-reliant ladies charting our own paths.

‘There was a camaraderie of shared history,’ she added.

After we passed over that bridge, our lives were forever altered. Shopping at the grocery store lost its anonymity for each of us, fostering a unique connection among the three of us.

Smith adds that the women were never competitive.

She didn’t express a desire for specific scenes; instead, she also expressed her preferences.

And Jaclyn loved Farrah like a sister.

Smith told People that she was genuinely supportive as a girlfriend,” or “Smith said to People that she wasn’t a rivalrous girlfriend; instead, she cheered for everyone else’s success.

The fragrance artist expressed, “She was the initial one to stop by following the birth of my first child. In her eyes, I saw her happiness since she understood that having children was a long-held dream of mine, and now, that dream had become a reality.

Smith went on to say, “However, she also had a great sense of humor. She’d joke, ‘See — your fingers aren’t plump now. You no longer need to use napkin rings on them!’

On October 24, 2024, Jaclyn will be serving as co-chair for the yearly event hosted by The Farrah Fawcett Foundation, which is taking place in Dallas, Texas.

On the 15-year anniversary of Farrah’s death, pals took to social media to pay tribute.

Friend of Farrah, Alana Stewart (formerly wedded to musician Rod Stewart), posted old pictures of Farrah on Instagram alongside a heartfelt message.

15 years ago, Farrah was remembered… with popular and less-known images of her, rest in peace, my dear sibling. You’re always on my mind. #Iconic – a post made by Melanie Griffith, who gave it a thumbs up.

Smith shared an old clip from their popular TV show.

Smith talked to People in 2019 about the last time she saw her friend of 40 years.

The brunette woman remarked, ‘She was uncomfortable and kept moving around.’ As I massaged her feet to alleviate her discomfort, she eventually calmed down. We chatted for nearly three hours, discussing our lives, our kids, and growing up in Texas. The final hours with Farrah were particularly special as we cherished our friendship.

Smith also said that Farrah was ‘relentless in her fight.’

Fawcett documented her battle against cancer, bravely sharing her shaved head following chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Yet, the news of tumors recurring in her liver left her in tears.

Smith shared with People that it might have seemed unexpected, given her reputation for her radiant smile, striking hair, and glamorous image, but this girl chose to reveal the profound aspects of her soul to the world.

The looker from Texas, who was married to Lee Majors and had a long relationship with Ryan O’Neal – – who died in December 2023 – launched The Farrah Fawcett Foundation to raise money for research and education.

When Farrah first told Jaclyn she had cancer, she said the diagnosis shocked her.

Smith reported, “I assumed I could face breast cancer or heart disease, but not something like this.” As she spoke these words, tears began to fall. After that incident, I have never seen her cry again.

And their friendship was real: ‘What I remember about Farrah is that as much of an eight-by-10 glossy as she was, she was the friend who cheered me on, the girl who loved her parents, the girl down the street.

Sharing the joys and sorrows of life, from moments of joy to times of sadness, we did so together. Each day, I find myself longing for her presence. Many individuals who were once a part of my life have moved on, which is challenging. I carry their absence with me, acknowledging that it’s alright to feel that longing.

Smith also touched on the years that she made Charlie’s Angels with Fawcett.

She said that the two, as well as co-star Kate Jackson, had ‘each other’s backs’ on the set.

‘It was like a college dorm, eating in our trailers together,’ said Jaclyn.

Occasionally, we’d go shopping over the weekend to pick out our outfits. We weren’t only acting together, but also long-term friends, a bond that lasted for an impressive 40 years.

Many believe that Farrah stayed with Charlie’s Angels throughout its entire five-year run, but in reality, she departed from the series following the first season to focus on more dramatic roles instead.

The series aired from 1976 until 1981.

‘When Farrah decided to leave after one season, we all supported her,’ said Smith.

Instead of saying ‘She wasn’t afraid to say, “This is what I’m gonna do,”‘ you could rephrase it as ‘She confidently declared her intentions by saying, “This is what I plan to do.”‘

Smith also acknowledged that the show made all of them.

‘It changed our lives. We were sorta like rock stars. When we went to Hawaii for the season opener, we had guards around the clock. We all went on to do our thing, but the power of Charlie’s Angels — it helped define who we were and where we went.’
