On Monday, I had the pleasure of attending the US Open Championships, where I was delighted to see Alec Baldwin and his wonderful wife, Hilaria Baldwin.
On the initial day of the championships held at Flushing Meadows in New York City, the 66-year-old Rust actor and his 40-year-old spouse were spotted enjoying a game from the stands.

More recently, Alec and Hilaria marked their daughter’s 11th birthday by sharing a meal and taking a photo during their family gathering.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but express my concerns about Alec and Hilaria allowing their young daughter to don makeup that seemingly ages her beyond her years on social media. It’s a bit too much for my taste, considering her preteen status.
Many Instagram users filled the comment sections under different posts, expressing curiosity and concern about why a beauty filter and heavy makeup were used on Carmen, who is only 11 years old.
As a committed parent, I found myself facing criticism when I allowed my preteen daughter to apply what some deemed as excessive makeup.
Previously, the pair have encountered strong disapproval due to allowing their child, who is now ten, to use cosmetics.
During this occasion, the couple faced similar criticism from numerous fans, evident through their comments. One Instagram user commented, “Getting ready at 11,” followed by, “I wish you the best.”
In the photo from Carmen’s birthday celebration, where it seemed like the shot was taken, Hilaria found herself surrounded by her spouse and child, with both of them on either side of her.

I can’t help but echo the sentiment of another social media enthusiast who found it peculiar that they let Carmen don such a quantity of makeup typically worn by a 15-year-old. It’s like I’m captivated, almost obsessed with this intriguing style choice!
One person was visibly frustrated that they edited the photo and said it was ‘warped’ that they ‘enhanced’ Carmen’s face in the photo.

One user said she looked like she was nearly double her age while another wrote that their daughter is ‘looking too old for 11.’

Despite a barrage of negative feedback in the comment sections, certain supporters defended them instead.
One Instagram user wrote, “What makes everyone so determined to scrutinize her parenting?” Another user suggested, “Stay out of it for a happier life!” They concluded, “She’s lovely anyway.”
The other user noted that the critics were ‘harsh’ and suggested that perhaps she was trying to emulate her mother’s appearance, as it was her birthday.
In June, a picture Alec shared on Father’s Day featuring Carmen with mascara and shiny lipstick drew criticism.
‘Beautiful family. My 8 yr old granddaughter loves playing with makeup and we let her! What’s the big deal! So shut your negative mouths and move on,’ one said.
On another occasion as well, Alec and Hilaria have faced criticism for their eldest daughter’s use of makeup.
In the month of February earlier this year, Hilaria faced criticism, often known as “mom-shaming,” due to a picture she posted on her Instagram showing Carmen with a full face of makeup applied.
She typed in the caption: ‘Date night with my first baby…she did both our makeup. How quickly they get big and how amazing it is to get to be inspired by them.’
The media figure summed it up by saying, “Carmen, you’re truly exceptional, much like your family members…each one distinctly unique and equally remarkable.”
One person commented, “Why do these celebrities make their kids seem so mature with all the makeup?” while another reacted, “She’s just a child, please!” (implying that it’s inappropriate to apply heavy makeup to children)

The Baldwin clan is currently producing a new reality show focusing on their large family of seven children: Carmen (age 11), Rafael (9), Leonardo (7), Romeo (6), Eduardo or ‘Edu’ (3), Maria (3), and Ilaria (1).
In addition to playing the lead role in Glengarry Glen Ross, this actor is also a parent to Ireland Baldwin, aged 27, who he shares with his former wife and fellow actress, Kim Basinger.
In the past few weeks, the family has been spotted shooting footage for TLC both within and nearby The Hamptons, New York.
According to pictures from DailyMail.com, the Baldwin children were spotted grilling outdoors as Alec instructed one of them on proper vegetable-slicing safety techniques.
Their new reality series is slated to air on the TLC network sometime in 2025.
