One of the most twisted horror film series out there is getting a new installment

As a die-hard fan of the “The Collector” horror franchise, I can hardly contain my excitement as filmmaker Marcus Dunstan recently announced that the long-awaited third installment, titled “The Collected,” is officially in development! It’s been over a decade since we last saw Arkin O’Brien (Josh Stewart) and the menacing serial killer known as The Collector.

I’ve been eagerly waiting for over a decade to see Arkin O’Brien, played by Josh Stewart, and the terrifying serial killer known as The Collector once again. Exciting news! Film director Marcus Dunstan has announced that a new installment in the franchise is now being developed.

People who are familiar with the franchise may remember that Dunstan, the director and co-writer of the scripts for “The Collector” and “The Collection,” has been working to produce the third film in the series, titled “The Collected,” for quite some time.

The Direct reported that filming for The Collected began in 2021 but was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite efforts to resume production, it didn’t succeed, and the project faced legal issues instead. Horror enthusiasts may recognize this predicament from productions like Friday the 13th.

As a seasoned film industry insider with over two decades of experience under my belt, I can tell you that getting the rights to a project and ironing out all the kinks is no small feat. It requires an immense amount of patience, persistence, and dedication. So, when I read in The Direct that “The Collected” is finally moving forward with its production, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of admiration for filmmaker Dunstan and his team.

And we’re not bringing it back until it’s something that we feel is the best one. And that we feel is in honor of the time we’ve been waiting because we haven’t been waiting on the bench just staring at the sky. We’ve been conceiving and concocting. Yeah, here it comes. And we want to honor this opportunity with something great.

In the 2012 sequel “The Collection,” which was the last encounter with The Collector and Arkin O’Brien’s character (Stewart), Arkin managed to outsmart the masked killer. He saved a young woman named Elena (Emma Fitzpatrick) from becoming the next victim, and in turn, trapped the killer instead.

Based on the film’s conclusion, it seemed that Arkin was poised to inflict the same agony upon The Collector as he had done to numerous other victims. With a third movie on the horizon, it’s safe to assume that the cunning killer would manage to break free and continue crafting his intricate deadly devices once more.

Stewart teased his potential involvment in the third movie on X (formerly Twitter).

He admitted there is a third film, but this doesn’t guarantee his return. It’s intriguing to imagine what the plot could be if he does come back.
