Ho-Oh functions as a defensive Pokemon with long-range capabilities in Pokémon Unite, capable of providing sustained support to allies. Its arsenal includes moves that heal and boost the attacking power of teammates, enhancing their offensive capabilities.

Ho-Oh’s Unite move is particularly noteworthy in team battles as it can bring back fallen teammates, adding an extra layer of difficulty when facing this Pokemon. Essentially, Ho-Oh offers an impressive combination of offensive power, healing capabilities, and crowd control, making it a valuable addition to any team roster.

With every third attack, this move unleashes an enhanced blast of flame, dealing more damage and recuperating some HP for the user. The more Pokemon hit by the amplified attack, the greater the HP restoration amount.

If a Pokémon isn’t harmed by adversary team’s Pokémon for a prolonged period, its health points will progressively regenerate.

Ability 1 – Tailwind

With a swift motion, the user generates a gust of wind in the chosen direction, inflicting harm on adjacent Pokémon. This wind vortex lingers on the battlefield for a brief duration.

When a Pokémon walks alongside the swirling wind, its pace is boosted. However, if a Pokémon goes against the direction of the wind, its speed is slowed down.

Ability Choices at Level 5

Upon reaching Level 5, Ho-Oh can select either of the following two moves:

FlamethrowerSky Attack
It has the user blown flames in the designated direction, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon it hits. This move’s cooldown increases the longer the user blows flames. If the user hits Pokémon from the opposing team with this move, the user recovers HP. If the user continues to hit opposing Pokémon with this move, the Pokémon are burned, decreasing their movement speed. When the burned Pokémon moves, it will leave behind scorched ground will also be burned, decreasing their movement speed. The skill has the user spread its wings and charge, then return to its original position, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon it hits and burning the ground along its flight path for a short time. Burning ground deals damage to opposing Pokémon and applies a slowing effect. When this move is used again, or if another move is used mid-charge, the user stops in place.
Upgrade: Increases the length of time the user can continue to blow flames and reduces this move’s cooldown.Upgrade: Also gradually restores the user’s HP while the user is on burning ground.

Ability 2 – Safeguard

With this ability, you can shield yourself, lessening the harm of the upcoming strike. Each time your shield absorbs damage, your movement becomes faster for a brief period.

Ability Choices at Level 7

At Level 7, either of these two moves becomes available:

FlyFire Spin
The skill has the user fly higher, allowing it to move freely over walls, and increasing its movement speed and Attack. After using this move, the user’s next three basic attacks become boosted attacks. When this move is used again, the user lands on the ground forcefully, dealing damage to nearby opposing Pokémon. The skill has the user generate a blazing vortex around itself, dealing damage and applying a slowing effect to opposing Pokémon it hits. The user redirects a portion of damage taken by ally Pokémon inside the vortex to itself. At the start of this move, the user receives a shield effect. This move ends if the user loses this shield.

While the user is still shielded, if a set amount of time passes or if this move is used again, the user releases a heat wave around itself that deals damage to opposing Pokémon. The more damage the user takes while the shielding effect is active, the more damage this heat wave deals.

Upgrade: Increases the length of time the user can fly.Upgrade: Automatically release a heat wave when the user’s shield is lost.

Unite Move – Rekindling Flame

When an adjacent alliance Pokemon faints, a feather remains as a sign for a brief period. The user then spreads its wings expansively and absorbs all the Aeos energy it can to bring back knocked-out alliance Pokémon to the fight, reappearing at their respective feathers. The more Aeos energy taken in, the more alliance Pokémon are revived.

Pokémon Unite Ho-Oh Gameplay Tips

In this PokéMon Unite Ho-Oh tutorial, we’ll explore effective strategies for playing Ho-Oh throughout the entire game. Here, we have two main parts: early game and late game. Be sure to read both sections in full to fully understand how to excel with Ho-Mon in each stage of the match.

Early Game

When using Ho-Oh in battle, consider which side of the field to place it based on your squad’s lineup. As a defensive Pokemon, focusing on shielding and assisting your attacking team members is key. Using items like Exp. Share can make leveling up a teammate more challenging for you.

As a seasoned Pokémon trainer with years of battles under my belt, I can’t stress enough the importance of utilizing every tool at your disposal during a fight. And one such valuable move is none other than Tailwind, which not only deals damage but also boosts the speed of both you and your allies. This move is particularly useful when leveling up your Pokémon in APIs, making it an essential addition to your arsenal.

During team fights and encounters with tough Pokemon like Drednaw and Rotom, Ho-Oh could benefit from using the move Safeguard to increase its resilience. Once Ho-Oh reaches level 5, it’s recommended to learn Flamethrower for easier pursuit and attacking of wild Pokemon. Alternatively, Sky Attack can be a good choice due to its added mobility and high damage output. Ultimately, the best moveset depends on your preferred playstyle and desired synergy between moves.

  • Flamethrower + Fly
  • Sky Attack + Fire Spin

Late Game

When I reach Level 7 with Ho-Oh, I get to pick an ability that maximizes the synergy with the one I chose at Level 5. By making this strategic choice, I can unleash Ho-Oh’s full potential and overpower my enemies with its enhanced abilities.

When you release Ho-Oh’s Unite ability, it is advisable to remain near vulnerable ally units. This way, you can quickly revive them and have them join the fight once more. Essentially, Ho-Oh’s Unite ability grants a second life to any fallen allies, enabling them to continue fighting effectively.

Positioning of Ho-Oh

As a passionate fan of Ho-Oh, I strongly believe that the most effective role for this magnificent Pokémon lies in either the top or bottom lane. My primary goal as Ho-Oh should be to support my team by shielding and bolstering our backlines during battles. Additionally, I mustn’t forget the importance of securing our objective by focusing on defense and protection. Essentially, with Ho-Oh acting as a defender-type Pokémon, it’s crucial that we move in unison with our agile allies to bring down objectives efficiently.
