Get ready for more magic! Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock are reprising their roles in a new trailer for the sequel to “Practical Magic.”
Warner Bros. unveiled the trailer for the eagerly awaited film after a preview at CinemaCon, a yearly gathering of movie theater owners in Las Vegas. The new film is scheduled to come out on September 11th, almost 28 years after the first one was released.
As a huge fan of the original, I’m really excited about the sequel! It’s directed by Susanne Bier and picks up the story with Sally and Gillian Owens – Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman are back! This time around, Sally’s daughter, played by Joey King, starts digging into some family mysteries and discovers she has magic of her own. Warner Bros. dropped the announcement on TikTok back in June 2024, which was a fun way to reveal it!

Get ready for more magic! A sequel to ‘Practical Magic’ is happening, and Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock are reportedly considering returning as the beloved witch sisters.
Lee Pace, Maisie Williams, Xolo Maridueña, and Solly McLeod are the newest additions to the cast. Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest will return as Frances and Jet Owens, the aunts who raised Sally and Gillian. The trailer shows the sisters being forced to leave home for a puzzling adventure, and Sally jokes that this journey is reminiscent of their experiences in the original movie.
Are you saying things will be alright, like they were when we… well, when we had to bury someone? Is this going to be that kind of okay, or something else entirely?
The movie follows Sally and Gillian as they search for love while also dealing with being witches and a family curse. Their ancestors were witches who placed a curse on any man who fell in love with a woman from the Owens family. In the story, the sisters break the curse by performing an exorcism on the ghost of Gillian’s former boyfriend, who they had killed earlier.

To celebrate receiving a lifetime achievement award from the American Film Institute, the actress reflects on her experience filming one of her most iconic and important roles.
As a fan of Alice Hoffman’s “Practical Magic” series, I was excited to see the sequel draw from her 2021 novel, “The Book of Magic.” It’s interesting to learn that before this, HBO Max actually considered a prequel series back in 2019, but thankfully, that project never moved forward – leaving room for this continuation of the story we all love.
During CinemaCon last week, Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock presented their new film, playfully referencing Kidman’s well-known AMC commercial. Bullock began by asking, “Nicole, why do people go to movie theaters?” Kidman replied, “They come for the magic of it all.”
Nicole Kidman posted videos on Instagram showing her and Sandra Bullock enjoying drinks from small cauldrons and walking the red carpet together. Sandra Bullock joined Instagram on Tuesday and quickly gained over 5.2 million followers, referencing the iconic midnight margaritas from the original movie.
