Housemarque’s ‘SAROS’ Is Officially Out for The PS5

Summary

  • The highly anticipated title from the creators of Returnal arrives exclusively on the PlayStation 5
  • Players navigate the ever-changing planet of Carcosa using fluid combat and a new permanent progression system
  • Actor Rahul Kohli leads the game’s haunting sci-fi story as a Soltari enforcer exploring a lost off-world colony

Housemarque’s new game, SAROS, is now available on PlayStation 5. It’s a fast-paced, action-packed experience that builds on the studio’s well-known style of gameplay. Players find themselves in a dangerous, ever-changing alien world where quick reflexes are key. The game combines challenging bullet-hell action with a compelling story and memorable characters.

SAROS is built on the same excellent gameplay foundation as the acclaimed game Returnal, featuring fast-paced, visually stunning “bullet ballet” combat where players use advanced weapons and skillful dodging. But SAROS adds a key new feature to the typical rogue-lite experience: permanent progression. Even though the world of Carcosa changes with each playthrough due to a mysterious Eclipse, players keep the resources they earn to permanently improve their gear, making each attempt feel like real progress instead of starting over from scratch.

Okay, so beyond just feeling amazing to play with its super smooth flow, SAROS really hooked me with its story. You play as Arjun Devraj, a tough Soltari enforcer, and Rahul Kohli absolutely nails the performance. He’s investigating a lost colony on this planet called Carcosa, and it’s way more than just shooting stuff. Kohli brings this real, cinematic feel to the game, which is cool because the action is fast-paced and arcade-like. But then you’re also exploring this creepy, haunting world, figuring out what happened to the colonists and dealing with the hostile creatures and constantly changing environment. It’s a really great mix of adrenaline and atmosphere.

The Standard and Digital Deluxe Editions of SAROS are available now exclusively on the PS5.
