The trailer for the new Legally Blonde prequel series, Elle, has just been released, and Reese Witherspoon, who starred in the original 2001 Legally Blonde film, says she’s feeling very moved. The original movie follows Elle Woods, a popular sorority girl, as she pursues a law degree after a breakup.
This movie serves as an origin story for the popular film series, taking us back to Elle’s high school days to show how she became who she is. The series also includes a 2003 sequel, a made-for-video spin-off, and a Broadway adaptation.
A new trailer offers a first glimpse of Lexi Minetree as Elle and hints at the storyline for the show, which will premiere on Prime Video on July 1st.

June Diane Raphael and Tom Everett Scott will play the parents of the main character, Elle, whose lives are disrupted when her parents decide to start over in Seattle. Chloe Wepper, David Burtka, Brad Harder, Kayla Maisonet, and Lisa Yamada are also featured in the cast, along with the late James Van Der Beek.
The new series follows Elle Woods during her high school years, showing us the events that turned her into the memorable character from the first Legally Blonde movie.

After the trailer came out, Witherspoon posted on Instagram, saying she was feeling emotional and shared a teary-eyed heart emoji.
I just saw that Harvard Law School’s official page playfully commented ‘Oh we’re sat’ – so funny! And Minetree, the main star, announced they’re leaving Bel-Air for Seattle with a cute ‘Goodbye Bel-air, Hello Seattle👋’ message. It seems like a big move!
Reese Witherspoon, also an executive producer on the show, shared her excitement about the casting, saying it’s been a long-held dream to tell the story of Elle Woods and how she became the inspiring character fans adore, especially now, 25 years after the original film.

Seeing Lexi take on the role of Elle has been incredibly rewarding for me. I believe the movie’s messages about being kind, true to yourself, and having confidence will connect with both longtime fans and new viewers.
It’s been amazing working with the Hello Sunshine team, Amazon, and all the super-talented writers and directors to create Elle’s high school story. Seriously, it’s been a blast! And I’m already hyped to start working on season two now that it’s officially a go!
Elle season one arrives on Prime Video on 1 July. It has already been renewed for season two.
