A third Hocus Pocus movie is officially happening! After hints surfaced in 2023, Disney has confirmed the Sanderson sisters will return for another adventure.
According to Deadline, Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker will be returning as the Sanderson sisters. The actresses first played the witches in the 1993 film Hocus Pocus and again in the 2022 sequel, Hocus Pocus 2.
While a third film is in the works, Disney isn’t sharing many details just yet. It’s expected to be released in theaters after Hocus Pocus 2 premiered on streaming, but the project is still in its early stages, and the plot remains a secret.
The original Hocus Pocus, directed by Kenny Ortega, tells the story of three witches from Salem who are accidentally brought back to life by a teenager named Max on Halloween. Max, along with his little sister Dani and his crush Allison, tries to stop the witches, who are determined to become immortal.
In the sequel, written by Jen D’Angelo and directed by Anne Fletcher, a pair of unsuspecting teens accidentally resurrect the Sanderson sisters, leading to more magical chaos as the witches try to navigate the present day.

In a 2022 interview with Entertainment Weekly, she admitted she’s always wished she could play a beloved character in multiple films, and she’d be thrilled to have a long-running franchise, especially with a role she enjoys.
Back in 2023, screenwriter Jen D’Angelo hinted at a third movie being in development. She told Entertainment Weekly that they were still brainstorming ideas and excited to revisit the story’s world, with plenty of possibilities for new characters and plotlines.
