Pop music and soccer are teaming up again! Ahead of the big FC Barcelona versus Real Madrid match (El Clásico), Spotify, Barcelona’s main sponsor, is replacing its logo with a special design featuring Olivia Rodrigo. The Grammy-winning singer is the youngest artist ever to have her name on the team’s jersey, making it a historic moment.
The collaboration between Spotify and FC Barcelona, where artists are featured on the team’s jerseys, is now a major annual event. This year, Rodrigo joins a prestigious list of global stars who’ve previously been showcased on the kit, including Ed Sheeran, Travis Scott, Coldplay, KAROL G, The Rolling Stones, ROSALÍA, and Drake. The special jerseys will be worn during two matches: the FC Barcelona women’s team will wear them on May 6th against Levante, and the men’s team will debut them on May 10th against Real Madrid.
Rodrigo is expanding her partnership with Spotify by bringing the Billions Club Live event to Barcelona on May 8th. Select, dedicated fans will get to enjoy a private concert honoring her incredible streaming success. “It’s surreal to see my initials on a Barcelona jersey for El Clásico,” Rodrigo said. “Performing for the fans who have supported me from the beginning, in a city like Barcelona, will be an unforgettable experience.”
Okay, so I’m super hyped about this new collab! They’re dropping a limited-edition line of gear that mixes FC Barcelona’s style with Rodrigo’s vibe – think cool hoodies, hats, mugs, and everyday stuff. But the really awesome part? They’re making only 1,899 special jerseys, which is a nod to the year Barcelona was founded – 1899. It’s a pretty cool way to celebrate the team-up, and I’m definitely trying to snag one of those jerseys!
To thank fans, this collaboration is timed perfectly with the start of her new musical chapter. Her single, “drop dead,” is already popular on the Barça Matchday playlist, building excitement for her third studio album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, which will be released this summer.
