Adolescence break-out star Owen Cooper confirmed for “truly original” British thriller

Owen Cooper, known for his role in the series Adolescence, will appear in the upcoming British thriller Foxfinder. He joins established actors Tessa Thompson (from Thor: Ragnarok) and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Bear) in the film.

Aoife McArdle, the director of Severance, will direct Foxfinder. She collaborated with Dawn King on the screenplay. King originally wrote the play Foxfinder in 2011, and the film is adapted from that work.

Production on the film will begin this summer in Bavaria, Germany.

The movie Foxfinder tells the story of Jude and Sam, a couple dealing with loss who try to maintain a normal life. Their quiet existence is disrupted when William, a stern and zealous government agent, arrives at their farm. His job is to hunt down and eliminate foxes, which the government has identified as a threat.

When fear and unreasonable rules take hold, trust disappears and reality becomes distorted.

Foxfinder is a film produced by Rabbit Track Pictures and Elation Pictures, with support from Film4 and the BFI. It also involved collaboration with German production companies Komplizen Film and Trimafilm.

Farhana Bhula and Cate Kane of Film4, and Fred Fiore and Ryan Wickers of Logical served as executive producers.

According to Kitty Kaletsky from Rabbit Track Pictures, the play and film Foxfinder offers a powerful and unsettling look at oppression, bias, and blaming others. She believes its message is increasingly relevant and will connect with viewers globally.

Film4 was keen to support Aoife’s second film, working with her and the team behind it, as Bhula explained.

She’s a truly gifted filmmaker, known for her careful attention to detail and creative vision. Her film, Foxfinder, feels especially relevant today, and we’re excited about the incredible actors who brought it to the screen.

Cooper is set to become the youngest participant ever in the Soccer Aid charity football match later this month.

On May 31st, Copper will join a team of celebrities for a special event, including Joe Marler, Paddy McGuinness, Tom Hiddleston, Damson Idris, Olly Murs, and Wayne Rooney.

Cooper expressed his excitement about playing in Soccer Aid for UNICEF, especially as it’s the event’s 20th anniversary. He jokingly pointed out he wasn’t even alive when the first Soccer Aid happened, but he’s always been a supporter.

It’s a huge honour to be the youngest player participating, and I’m really looking forward to playing at London Stadium on May 31st. The event supports a fantastic cause, raising money to ensure all children have a safe, healthy childhood and the chance to play, and I’m proud to be involved.

I’m so excited! The latest issue of Living Legends is out, and it’s a beautiful, full-color, 100-page tribute to Sir David Attenborough. You can grab a copy at any newsagent or order it online – I’m definitely getting one!
