Everyone is ripping apart Sydney Sweeney’s portrayal as adult content star on Euphoria – this is how the industry REALLY works and we are not ‘dumb and ‘desperate’ says Aussie OnlyFans stars

After Sydney Sweeney’s role as a sexually explicit performer on the show Euphoria was criticized as ‘desperate and foolish’, a number of adult film stars in Australia have shared their opinions on her performance.

The latest season of the HBO drama started earlier this month, but the first episode received a lot of criticism for upsetting scenes featuring Sydney Sweeney’s character, Cassie Howard.

Some viewers were upset by the second episode, “America My Dream,” criticizing the continued use of sexually suggestive scenes involving Sydney Sweeney, which they felt were exploitative.

Sweeney faced controversy after photos she posted on her OnlyFans account became public. These included a revealing image of ice cream on her chest, following an episode where she appeared in a dog costume.

Emily Mai, 35, and Taila Maddison, 30, who both create content on OnlyFans, told the Daily Mail that they feel Sydney Sweeney’s depiction of an adult film performer in the recent series isn’t accurate and doesn’t reflect the realities of their profession.

Emily believes the media often focuses on extreme or sensationalized stories to grab viewers. Instead of accurately portraying the realities of sex work, they tend to highlight the most shocking aspects to boost ratings and views.

She explained that shows like Euphoria often emphasize shocking or dramatic elements related to adult themes to grab viewers’ attention.

It’s just a small piece of the bigger picture, and they’ve presented it as if that’s all anyone does. For example, Sydney’s character is often shown acting childish, and she’s depicted as naive and easily influenced by the men around her, according to Emily.

‘Of course she is gonna dress up like a sexy little puppy, bark and be submissive.’

As someone who follows this space closely, I want to clear up a common misconception. A lot of people assume OnlyFans creators have to do anything their fans ask, but that’s simply not true. The creators I know are completely in control of their content and only share what they are comfortable with. They absolutely set their own boundaries and never feel pressured to fulfill strange or unwanted requests.

Many content creators carefully select the topics, interests, and themes they focus on, respecting their own personal limits. It’s common for creators to decline certain requests if they feel uncomfortable or simply don’t enjoy them, she explained.

‘There is no autonomy in the TV show. They are dressing us up as babies.’

Emily pointed out a common misconception about OnlyFans creators: the idea that they are ‘desperate.’ She emphasized that, in reality, many find the work to be a positive and empowering experience.

Many people feel uneasy with the idea of a woman openly expressing her sexuality and earning money for it. It’s ironic that while many watch pornography, they’re unwilling to directly compensate a woman for her time and work. This highlights a societal double standard and the discomfort some have with women taking control of their bodies and being paid for their time.

Another OnlyFans creator, Taila Maddison, 30, commented that while she enjoyed Sydney Sweeney’s performance in Euphoria, she thought the show’s portrayal of extreme sexual interests felt a bit far-fetched.

I’m not bothered by it at all,” Taila explained. “I’ve heard other performers protest, saying they’re frustrated that it’s being framed as simply a fetish. It’s more than that, of course, but let’s be real – it’s a major source of income for us!”

She shared that her customers frequently made strange requests, surprisingly similar to the actions of the character from the HBO show.

Taila explained that her current task involved ordering takeout, drinking a soft drink, and video chatting with a subscriber—who specifically requested she appear bloated during the call!

While acknowledging that Euphoria isn’t entirely grounded in reality, she praised the show for highlighting the growing world of the entertainment industry.

She explained that keeping these activities secret feels bland, and she doesn’t understand why people get upset when they find out. She believes it demonstrates that people are capable of much more than just physical intimacy.

Annie Knight, a popular creator on OnlyFans, said she’s glad to see her line of work shown in TV and movies, but hopes for more realistic depictions in the future.

She explained that portrayals of OnlyFans creators are often inaccurate and lack realism. While she understands the need for dramatic storylines, she believes it’s possible to create compelling content without misrepresenting creators or suggesting they dislike their work.

Alex Paige Moore, a long-time content creator on OnlyFans, has pointed out that TV shows and movies don’t accurately reflect the experiences of people who actually work in the adult entertainment industry.

She expressed a desire to cast people with existing OnlyFans accounts in these roles, and to give them input into how their characters are depicted. She believes those with firsthand experience understand the subject matter best, stating, ‘We’re the ones who know how it happens.’

To make shows about this topic feel more genuine, she suggested casting actual content creators who already work in the field.

She expressed her desire for more acting opportunities, saying, “It would be amazing to get some of those roles!” She also pointed out that many women in the industry are talented actors, and that acting is a core part of their work.
