Steven Spielberg Sets New TV Remake Of His 31-Year-Old Supernatural Fantasy Hit At Disney

A remake of the Steven Spielberg classic Casper is in the works.

The popular supernatural comedy, directed by Brad Silberling, came out in May 1995 and was a major financial success, earning over $290 million on a $55 million budget. It helped make stars of young actors like Christina Ricci and Devon Sawa. Steven Spielberg was involved as an executive producer through his company, Amblin Entertainment.

Okay, so I just saw this news โ€“ Disney+ is working on a live-action TV show based on that classic supernatural fantasy film! And get this, Spielberg himself is involved as an executive producer โ€“ he also produced the original movie back in ’95. Joining him are Rob Letterman and Hilary Winston. Details are still pretty scarce, but apparently, it’s going for a much darker and grittier vibe, kind of like what they did with Wednesday on Netflix. I’m cautiously optimistic, honestly!
