Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban‘s oldest daughter, Sunday Rose, has seemingly shown where her support lies following her parents’ separation, which was announced last September. This is the first time she’s publicly indicated her feelings since the news broke.

In a move typical of Gen Z, 17-year-old model and daughter of a famous country singer appeared to unfollow her father on Instagram on Monday.

Within 24 hours, however, country star Urban was re-listed as someone Sunday Rose follows.

However, this social media activity led many to believe that Keith Urban’s relationship with his daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, is strained following his divorce, which became official in January.

There’s been speculation about whether Keith Urban’s close relationship with his daughter is affected by his quick move to date younger singers in Nashville following his separation from Nicole Kidman.

Sources speaking only to the Daily Mail suggest that Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s relationship with their daughters might be more strained than publicly known.

One insider close to Urban describes the country star as ‘distraught’.

From what I’m hearing, Nicole’s daughters are firmly on her side, and right now, they see Keith as the one to blame for everything. It’s a really tough situation for him – he’s incredibly upset. He adores those girls, but they’re understandably furious with him and holding him responsible for what’s happened.

I don’t believe Nicole is guiding them to this understanding; it seems the girls are figuring it out themselves.

Nicole Kidman, 58, filed for divorce after almost 20 years of marriage on September 30th of last year, and the divorce was finalized in January.

The actress, formerly married to Tom Cruise, strongly contested custody of her daughters with her ex-husband.

As a longtime fan, I remember being so saddened when Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise divorced in 2001, especially after eleven years together. They had agreed to share custody of their adopted children, Isabella and Connor, but ultimately the kids chose to live mostly with Tom. This caused a rift in her relationship with Nicole Kidman, who is said to still hope for a reconciliation with her two older children.

According to court records obtained by the Daily Mail in January, Nicole Kidman will have custody of her daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, for the majority of the year – 306 days, compared to Keith Urban’s 59 days, which amounts to roughly every other weekend. This was a key issue during their divorce negotiations, but Kidman ultimately prevailed.

The actress has continued to live with her daughters in the family’s large seven-bedroom home in Nashville. The couple purchased the house, located in a private, gated community, for $3.5 million in 2008 as their main family home.

Urban, meanwhile, is understood to have moved out to a nearby residence in the summer last year.

Nicole Kidman spent last Christmas in Australia with her daughters. While there, her daughter Faith turned fifteen at the end of December.

The new dynamic, a friend told Australian magazine New Idea at the time, felt like a ‘gut punch’.

‘He’s completely lost,’ they said.

Little, it seems, has improved.

According to a source who spoke with the Daily Mail, he used to text his daughters and receive brief replies, but now they aren’t responding at all.

He’s currently accepting the situation and hopes they can discuss things later. It’s painful, but he’s optimistic they’ll eventually be able to talk and resolve things.

Recent reports connecting Keith Urban to much younger country singers – women closer in age to his daughters than to him – probably haven’t improved the situation.

Shortly after Nicole Kidman filed for divorce last year, reports surfaced in the Daily Mail alleging that Keith Urban had already begun a relationship with a younger woman working in the music business.

Maggie Baugh, a 26-year-old country singer who toured with Keith Urban last year, sparked some talk due to her close connection with him while performing on stage.

Alexandra Kay, a friend of Baugh’s, dismissed rumors of a romantic involvement with Urban, stating they were completely false.

In January, rumors began circulating that Keith Urban was dating Karley Scott Collins, a country singer who had performed as his opening act during his 2025 High and Alive World Tour.

The singer, 26, has also denied reports of a relationship as ‘absolutely ridiculous and untrue.’

Nena Collins, her mother, recently told the Daily Mail that rumors of a romantic relationship are ‘crazy’ and untrue.

‘None of that stuff is true,’ she said.

Although Urban hasn’t commented on rumors about his personal life, a source says he’s been feeling regretful and embarrassed about the way his marriage concluded.

‘He’s in a lot of pain right now,’ the insider said.

He’s deeply hurting himself with his own thoughts and feelings, and is now dealing with guilt, shame, and confusion as he tries to understand what happened.

Keith, in particular, was constantly on the road touring, and honestly, his daughters didn’t get nearly enough time with him because of it. It’s a tough balance, and it definitely impacted their relationship.

Nicole was always busy with many different projects, and as a result, she spent a lot of time focused on work rather than family. Because they didn’t have much quality time together as a family, her children naturally turned to their mother for support during this difficult time. They hadn’t previously had a strong relationship with their father.

Indeed, Sunday Rose has often publicly praised her mother.

In a recent interview with Elle Australia, she revealed that Nicole Kidman is her greatest inspiration and has played a major role in launching her modeling career.

She explained that her mother’s impact went beyond just her career, enthusiastically sharing that Kidman is central to everything she does.

Nicole Kidman recently shared that she has a very close relationship with her daughters, saying they talk about everything at an event in Philadelphia earlier this month.

According to a source at the Daily Mail, Urban is supportive of his ex-wife’s close bond with their daughters and doesn’t speak negatively about it.
