Ariana Grande announces a new album after a two-year hiatus from music and a shock career update

Ariana Grande has announced a forthcoming new album, to be released this summer.

The pop star, age 32, finally revealed details about her upcoming album on Tuesday, including its title, release date, and cover art. She’d been hinting at the project throughout the month.

She shared a close-up black and white photo on Instagram, smiling with her hair falling across her face, and captioned it ‘petal 7.31’.

The singer-songwriter announced pre-orders on Instagram Stories for several versions of their album ‘Petal,’ including a signed pearly white vinyl LP, the ‘Petal’ CD, a cloudy gray vinyl LP, and more.

She shared an announcement from Apple Music stating that Ariana Grande is releasing a new album called ‘petal,’ which is now available to pre-add on the platform.

Ariana Grande worked with creative director Katia Temkin on the project’s visual elements, and gave her full credit for the photos, fonts, and all aspects of the packaging design.

Before officially announcing it, the singer of “Thank U, Next” had been giving fans clues that she was starting a new chapter, posting pictures and videos from rehearsals and recording sessions.

Her most recent album, Eternal Sunshine, came out in 2024 and featured the assertive first single, ‘Yes, And?’.

Since that time, her work has largely focused on the highly praised movie adaptation of Wicked, which will be released in two parts.

Last November, Ariana Grande surprised her fans by announcing that her upcoming tour for the album Eternal Sunshine would likely be her last for a while.

She shared that her music career had consumed her life, and she was now choosing to focus on other interests.

The singer promised to put her heart and soul into the tour, calling it a final, celebratory send-off before she stops touring internationally.

During an appearance on the Good Hang with Amy Poehler podcast, the actress expressed her enthusiasm for an upcoming, limited tour, but hinted it might be a very long time before she does something similar again.

I’m putting everything I have into this, and I believe the result will be wonderful. I’m truly thankful for the opportunity, and that’s really why I’m doing it – it feels like a final, special effort for the time being.

Ariana Grande is starting her first big tour in seven years this June. She’ll be performing throughout the US and Canada, and then she’s bringing the show to London’s O2 Arena for ten performances.

She shared with Poehler last year that she feels much more in touch with herself and her creative work ever since she began exploring new activities.

I focused on pop music for a long time, but I actually grew up loving musical theater and comedy. Now, I want to prioritize what feels creatively fulfilling, even if it means taking unexpected or spontaneous opportunities, because that’s what will truly make me happy and improve my work.

After wowing audiences as Glinda in the movie Wicked, the talented actress will next star in Focker-In-Law.

This comedy is the latest movie in the Meet the Parents series, and it stars Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro.

The entertainer excitedly shared that they loved the script, found it hilarious, and were thrilled to be working with the cast.
