House of the Dragon Season 3 Trailer Reveals HBO Release Date

I’m so excited! HBO just announced the premiere date for House of the Dragon Season 3! They dropped a new trailer today, and it confirmed we’ll be able to watch the first episode on Sunday, June 21st at 9 p.m. on both HBO and HBO Max. New episodes will air weekly, and the season will wrap up on August 9th. I can’t wait!

House of the Dragon is inspired by George R.R. Martin’s book, Fire & Blood, which details the history of the Targaryen family. The show takes place 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, and about 100 years before A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

The War Gets Real in House of the Dragon Season 3

Viewers of Game of Thrones might sense a shift in the mood of the House of the Dragon Season 3 trailer. Unlike earlier seasons that highlighted family relationships or building conflict, the new trailer feels much darker and more serious, showing the heavy consequences of war on those involved. This reflects a theme from George R.R. Martin’s writing: engaging in such conflicts inevitably leads to suffering – “If you dance with dragons, you must expect to burn.”

The show’s serious tone reflects the personality of Aemon Targaryen, who currently sits on the Iron Throne. He’s previously shown he won’t hesitate to act, even against family, and won’t prioritize anyone over the well-being of the people. This uncompromising approach will likely be a major factor in the events of the third season of House of the Dragon.
