Grimlight standalone to be delisted again from mobile stores on May 5, 2026 due to engine update requirements

Eight Studio has announced that the offline version of Grimlight will no longer be available for purchase on the Google Play Store and App Store starting May 5, 2026. Originally released in July 2022, the RPG initially ended service in 2024 before being re-released as a standalone version in June 2025.

Another setback for fans, as even the offline version is going away

Grimlight is a role-playing game where you collect heroes based on classic fairy tales, all set in the world of Phantasia. You play as the Dreamer, and your mission is to save the world from the Dreamless, a mysterious force that’s destroying it. You do this by summoning well-known characters like Alice, Cinderella, and Red Riding Hood to fight by your side.

The Grimlight Team announced on X (formerly Twitter) that the game will no longer be available for download starting May 5, 2026. They explained that this is because the game engine needs an update, and they will be removing it from both the Google Play Store and the App Store.

You can still enjoy Grimlight by downloading now or rely on APK options

The game’s developers need to update the apps on Google Play and the App Store to use a newer version of the Unity engine. Without these updates, the apps will be removed from the platforms. Unfortunately, the team has revealed they can’t make these necessary updates because there isn’t a development team currently working on the game.

If you already have the game, you’re still in luck – you can keep playing as usual. The developers have confirmed on Reddit that your game data will be safe. If you haven’t installed it yet, I recommend downloading it now, or finding a trustworthy source for the APK file later on.
