Matty Juniosa, a singer on Britain’s Got Talent, received his second Golden Buzzer on Saturday, securing his spot in the final alongside Anastasiia and her dog, Salsa. However, some viewers felt the surprise of his advancement was spoiled.
Matty wowed the audience with his performance of Prince’s “Purple Rain,” earning a standing ovation – so much so that Simon Cowell hit his buzzer!
Following a fantastic performance, Amanda Holden revealed she’d asked the show’s producers what would happen if she didn’t use her Golden Buzzer. They told her it would then be awarded to someone in the audience.
‘I wasn’t going to let it go the audience,’ she said before hitting down on the button.
Simon praised the performer, saying their vocal range was amazing and they were a genuinely kind person. He remarked that receiving two Golden Buzzers was a fantastic achievement, and expressed his happiness for them.
But fans of the show saw the move coming, as Matty was the evening’s final act.
Someone commented on X, speculating that Amanda will use her golden buzzer on the final act. They expressed hope that the act is good, otherwise the golden buzzer would be wasted.
Since the golden buzzer hadn’t been used yet, it wasn’t surprising when it finally happened.
It’s quite a coincidence that the strongest performer was saved for last, and now Amanda has to award the Golden Buzzer to him again. She could have given it to someone who hadn’t received one yet.
Are the judges waiting until the very end to use their Golden Buzzers? If not, Amanda will have to decide if the singer advances, and he’s the final performer of the night.
Amanda has a clear target for this, but she’s held back from using it on someone who definitely earned it for the past two acts.
Following the public vote, it became clear that he and Anastasiia & Salsa would be the top two finalists.
Anastasiia and her dog impressed the judges with their dance to Myles Smith’s song ‘Stargazing,’ earning them a place in the competition.
Earlier in the show, Matty received his first Golden Buzzer after wowing the judges with a powerful performance of Prince’s “Purple Rain.” His incredible vocals left them speechless.
Amanda Holden praised the performance, saying she could tell how much the performer wanted to succeed.
Simon described the artist as someone who goes overboard with sweetness – like adding a huge amount of sugar to your tea, way more than necessary.
He said this was the strongest reaction anyone had ever given, then, with a shrug, asked ‘Why not?’ and pressed the button.
Overwhelmed by the amazing reaction to his performance, Matty dropped to his knees as confetti rained down and tears streamed down his face.
On Saturday’s live semi-final, Ant and Dec playfully referenced the recent controversy on ‘I’m A Celeb’ as they returned to television, jokingly warning the judges to keep their behavior in check.
During Friday’s finale of the show, a disagreement erupted between the two hosts, both aged 50. Former footballer Jimmy Bullard claimed that Adam Thomas, who ultimately won the competition, had been ‘abusive, aggressive, and intimidating’ during a heated argument that was filmed last year.
Following the live show’s conclusion, Ant encountered an uncomfortable situation with Jimmy while leaving with his wife, Anne-Marie Corbett.
Ant and Dec playfully brushed off the on-air chaos, with Ant exclaiming his enjoyment of live television. Dec agreed, saying there’s nothing quite like it.
Ant playfully asked the judges to behave themselves, saying there had been plenty of drama on television the night before.
Let me tell you, after seeing Sinitta and Gemma Collins famously walk out of that dramatic finale, Dec had the best line! He playfully warned anyone causing trouble that they’d be gone faster than you can say ‘Sinitta’! It was a really funny way to get the point across – behave yourselves, or you’re out!
Amanda later playfully said, ‘I was so impressed by your amazing performance last night that I actually took notes! I’m learning from a true master!’
