Hold onto your motherboards, folks! Intel shares just rocketed to a new all-time high on April 24, and it looks like the company might finally be cashing in on the AI craze. Who knew?
The stock leaped more than 24% to around $83 in early trading, officially surpassing its dot-com-era glory days from 2000. I mean, who needs a time machine when you have this kind of market action? Now Intel’s market value is strutting around at over $416 billion-practically a tech billionaire now.
This thrill ride followed some earnings that were so strong they probably worked out with weights beforehand. The guidance was like a surprise party for Wall Street, suggesting that demand for Intel’s server CPUs is rising faster than my blood pressure during tax season.
AI Demand Is Moving Back Toward CPUs
So what’s the deal? The big news here is a shift in AI infrastructure. Sure, the first phase of the AI boom was all about GPUs, thanks to the fabulous Nvidia. Now, as more AI models transition from training wheels to big-kid deployment, CPUs are stepping back into the limelight. Cue the music!
Intel’s been selling chips it thought were as good as expired milk, thanks to an unexpected surge in demand from AI service providers that would make even a hoarder proud. CFO David Zinsner casually mentioned that tight supply allowed the company to raise prices and clear out old inventory-it’s like a clearance sale but with a lot more silicon and a lot less glitter.
Investors are starting to look at Intel like it’s the prom queen of AI inference, where models can finally answer user queries without stuttering or breaking a sweat. Let’s be real, who doesn’t want to be the cool kid at the AI table?
Intel stock just surged 28% in a single day, hitting its highest level since the dot-com era.
> Intel was the punching bag of the semiconductor sector for years. Left for dead. The stock traded around $19 a year ago.
> Tonight it’s trading above $83. Up 100% this year. Up 224%…

Earnings Gave the Rally Fuel
In more exciting news, Intel reported first-quarter revenue of $13.58 billion-smashing estimates of $12.42 billion like a piñata at a birthday party. Its data center and AI segment brought in a cool $5.1 billion, also ahead of expectations. It’s like Christmas came early for Intel.
The guidance? Oh, it matters. Intel expects second-quarter revenue between $13.8 billion and $14.8 billion, while Wall Street was just hoping for $13.07 billion. Talk about raising the bar!
Analysts were quick to respond, with at least 23 brokerages raising their price targets as if they were trying to catch a bouquet at a wedding. HSBC even pointed to soaring demand for Intel’s Xeon server CPUs-fancy name, fancy money.
$INTC IS UP NEARLY 30% TODAY
I don’t think people realize how wild it is that customers are paying full price for end-of-life inventory Intel had already written off.
That only happens when customers are so capacity-constrained that they will take any available CPU regardless…

Can the Rally Continue?
Now, let’s get real: This rally could keep rolling if Intel can prove this isn’t just a one-hit wonder. With the Tesla 14A manufacturing deal and the growing AI CPU demand, investors are feeling optimistic-like they just found out their favorite show got renewed for another season.
But hold your horses! The stock is trading at around 90 times forward earnings, which is like putting all your eggs in a basket made of glass. There’s precious little room for disappointment without a dramatic plot twist.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk said Tesla plans to use Intel’s $INTC 14A process for its large-scale “Terafab,” calling it the right move as the node matures. He wants memory, logic, masks, and packaging under one roof for faster chip iteration.

Intel has the momentum, but it needs to show that today’s spike isn’t a fluke. Let’s hope this surge leads to sustained AI-driven growth, rather than just a flash in the pan like my last attempt at baking.
