Aussie DJ popular in the 2010s splits from glamorous wife just five years after their very public proposal and lavish wedding: ‘I won’t pretend it’s been easy’

Australian DJ Timmy Trumpet has split from his wife Anett Tomcsanyi after five years of marriage.

The musician, now 43, rose to fame in the early 2010s with his 2014 song “Freaks” featuring Savage. He first met Anett in 2011 at the Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas.

He proposed to the Hungarian content creator on a livestream in 2020, but their relationship appears to have ended since then.

Timmy, also known as Timothy Jude Smith, announced the news on Instagram in March, following speculation on online forums.

It’s been difficult for me to discuss the past year, and I still hesitate to do so. I’m sharing that Anett and I have broken up.

I’m letting you know because we’ve always been so open with our lives together. We shared so many incredible moments – like when I proposed on a live stream, and all the times we performed on stages around the world. I really thought those moments would last forever.

Life rarely goes as planned, and I won’t say it’s been a smooth ride. There have definitely been some really tough days.

I decided to persevere, to continue performing and stay committed to the journey. Performing over 150 shows around the world is what ultimately drove me forward.

I also stopped releasing music, not because I lacked songs, but because they didn’t feel true to who I was at the time. That led me to start fresh.

Rediscovering music helped me cope with everything I was going through, and it’s led me down a completely new path.

Timmy explained that his new music will be very personal, suggesting it’s influenced by his recent breakup with Anett.

‘This is the most vulnerable I’ve ever felt sharing my music with the world. Through all of this, you guys have been the constant,’ he continued. 

Your support has given me the courage to persevere and pour my heart into every performance. It truly means the world to me to perform for you – it’s the biggest honor of my life. I’m not without flaws, of course, but I give it my all.

Anett didn’t announce her split online, but she did post a telling update at New Year.

She shared a photo of herself gazing out over the ocean while holidaying somewhere in Europe.

She wrote, ‘Bring on 2025 – I’m ready to leave this year behind! It was a really difficult and emotional ride.’

‘Still grateful for the lessons. Hopeful for the new year. Much love to everyone xx.’

The first signs of trouble between Timmy and Anett emerged in early 2025.

Even though the couple used to post about each other a lot on social media, they started sharing less online starting in February.

Although photos of them together, even from their wedding, are still online, they haven’t been spotted together in almost a year.

Recently, Timmy has been traveling internationally to perform as a DJ, and his wife, Anett, hasn’t been seen accompanying him.

Anett used to frequently join Timmy’s tours, but now she’s been posting pictures of luxurious vacations with friends and her new dog.

In April 2025, Anett announced she had gotten a new dachshund puppy, describing it as the start of an exciting new phase in her life. Photos of the puppy didn’t include her previous dog, Timmy.

That was the last time anyone saw Anett with her wedding ring and engagement diamond.

Timmy and Anett have stopped interacting with each other on social media – they don’t follow each other and aren’t tagged in each other’s posts, suggesting one or both of them may have blocked the other.

Anett has largely disappeared from social media, with her last post appearing in early March – only two weeks before Timmy announced their breakup.

The former couple tied the knot in a very lavish ceremony in June 2022. 

They announced their marriage on Instagram with photos and a joyful message: ‘AND WE’RE MARRIED! The best day of my life.’

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe where Timmy and Anett got married! It was absolutely magical – right at Fisherman’s Bastion in Budapest! Seriously, Fisherman’s Bastion! It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site, so beautiful and historic, and they said their vows with all their loved ones there. I’m still dreaming about the pictures – it was the perfect fairytale wedding!

The DJ memorably proposed to his partner during a music set in July 2020.

It was during one of their performances, right when Anett was supposed to come out and sing with Timmy, that he completely surprised everyone – including her, I’m sure! He got down on one knee and proposed, and the whole crowd just erupted in cheers. It was such a sweet and unexpected moment, and I was so thrilled for them both!

The romantic moment was streamed live on social media.

Timmy first gained widespread recognition in 2014 with his popular song “Freaks,” featuring Savage. The single achieved gold status in the U.S. after selling over 500,000 copies.

It also shifted 420,000 units in Australia and 45,000 in New Zealand.

Timmy is a lively performer who plays the trumpet and blends jazz with his dance music.
