Pregnant Aussie woman breaks down after 'screaming' at her toddler son: 'I feel disgusting about it'

On a tearful Wednesday, an Australian fitness influencer recounted the instance when she suddenly found herself yelling at her three-year-old child.

Steph Claire Smith, aged 30 and expecting her second child, posted a video on Instagram that depicted her appearing quite fatigued following a shower session.

She shared with her 1.4 million fans that she was feeling extremely fatigued and yucky, having shouted at her toddler the previous evening due to his difficulty in sleeping.

She explained that she didn’t just raise her voice a tad with Harvey the previous night, but rather, she truly shouted loudly at him.

‘I’m not boasting about that. I feel just as disgusting about it now as I did in the moment.’

On Tuesday night, the co-founder of KICPOD shared that their guest, Harvey, approached their bed and requested to sleep with them, which they agreed to.

Steph went on saying, ‘I found myself awake with him by my bedside, wanting to ask if he could join me in bed and simply drift off together.’

‘However, 99.99 per cent of the times that we have done that, he does not go back to sleep.

He remains motionless for approximately 15 minutes, followed by around 15 minutes of restless behavior, including kicks and cries. This then progresses into him desiring to rise and engage in some activity.

Steph mentioned that she suggested staying overnight with Harvey in his bedroom, but he expressed displeasure since he was concerned she might return to her room once he dozed off.

Steph recounted, “It triggered an immense breakdown within him, leaving us both feeling extremely unsettled. The situation quickly spiraled out of control.

Feeling exhausted, all I could think was, “It figures that this is happening on the very night I return to work.

She went on to say: ‘Eventually, it became clear that he would only keep stating that he didn’t wish for me to make his side of the bed cozy.’

In the end, I understood his meaning: “Initially, it seemed like he meant to leave his bed chilly as an alibi for joining mine, because he claimed it was too cold.

At that moment, what was happening didn’t seem clear to me, so I let out a loud yell. I raised my voice significantly and yelled loudly, causing quite a startle in him.

Steph also mentioned that when her partner Josh, aged 34, heard her raising her voice at their young son, he rushed up the stairs to assist in soothing them both.

In a moment, I realized something – I’m unsettled and he is too. If we continue like this, neither of us will improve, Steph pointed out.

She and Josh then ‘stood there in silence’ in Harvey’s room, waiting for him to stop crying.

Ultimately, the total settled down enough to rest again, but Steph stayed awake beside him for an additional hour as her heart raced rapidly.

Although I did my utmost to fix it right away, it might not have appeared genuine,” is how Steph put it to her audience.

This morning, upon waking, I plan to do my best to fix it as thoroughly as possible before heading out for work. It really frustrates me, and I dislike the situation of having to argue with it.

As a lifestyle expert, I felt compelled to share my personal journey of parenthood with you all. After all, it’s not always easy, but it’s as natural as can be. There are times when our endurance gets put to the test, but that’s just part of the journey.

Steph said, “I wouldn’t want anyone else to feel as uncomfortable as I did last night, thinking they’re alone in behaving that way and parenting.

Steph has been very open on social media about the struggles she’s faced as a mother.

Last July, a well-known fitness influencer choked back tears during an episode of her Keep It Cleaner Podcast when she shared a heartbreaking moment with her audience. She disclosed the most painful remark her son Harvey had ever made to her.

The woman, who is jointly raising a child with her spouse Josh and expecting another soon, struggled to hold back her feelings while recounting her tale.

She admitted that Harvey had recently told her she ‘scared’ him when she got angry.

Steph expressed to Lael Stone that she dislikes the current situation, as it leaves her feeling quite uncomfortable and upset whenever she loses her temper in his presence.

‘The worst thing I think you can hear a kid say to you is, “Mummy, you scared me”.

As a die-hard admirer, those phrases he uttered have got to be my least favorite; they’ve come true, and I can’t hold back the tears. It strikes me now, more than ever, how parents like us burden ourselves with immense pressure, striving for perfection in every action we take.

A little over a month ago, she posted about a challenge she was facing as a parent, specifically revealing that she managed just three hours of shut-eye according to her wellness app.

Steph described the past night as the most challenging she’s faced as a mother, when she opened up about her son’s sleep issues in an emotional post.

She titled the graph, “That was the most difficult or toughest night in the past three years as a parent.

Initially, the co-founder of the fitness program “Keep It Cleaner” posted a picture of herself and her son, both seemingly displeased, while they were lying together in bed.

11:00 PM found me arriving home from the theater and immediately climbing into bed. At 11:30, Harvey awoke from a disturbing dream, Josh needed comforting, we assumed he had fallen back asleep, but only ten minutes later, he was wide awake, shouting out.

Josh attempted to move to a different place, but Harvey insisted on joining us. Since I found myself in his bed, after about 20 minutes, he informed me that he preferred the spare room and didn’t want to sleep in his own room. So I obliged him. However, I was awake for another half an hour with him before he started patting me forcefully and persistently, giving the impression that he was stuck and couldn’t hear my attempts to communicate.

Steph elaborated that Harvey was firm and insisted that going down to sleep in his parents’ room would help him finally get some rest.

Once Steph moved next to Harvey in the bed, the situation started deteriorating rapidly. The toddler persisted in kicking and climbing on them, causing discomfort, until he eventually fell asleep at around 3:30 am.
